Also possible. This is all new, so I can't just check a nearby fixture to confirm - I'd have to go back there and take a look. My bike, the DA15 and I are definitely up for the adventure. The 55-300 PLM can come along to take better shots inside the fixture in daylight.

I think that likely explains it. The fixtures are new and the light sources in them might be configured that way. I'd have to go in daylight and look up to see if they are.
This is a severe crop of a picture from another thread showing not only the street lights but also traffic lights and a security spotlight - all starbursting but I think I see a difference with the street lights.

This year in Toronto it's been dull grey, mirky light and constant wind for the last few weeks. Yesterday afternoon there were a couple of patches of blue sky for about 15 minutes so i grabbed the camera and tried to find something.

Resistance is futile. :D
It might take a bit of practice to get the results you're hoping for, but it's well worth it.

I think this may be one of the last unobstructed views of Toronto's CN Tower.

A few more tight crops. This lens never met a star-burst it didn't like, even ones it didn't make itself. |

Canada Day fireworks. Ashbridges Bay Toronto

Would you believe... fireworks? I was hoping to shoot the Canada Day fireworks reflected in the water at Ashbridges Bay, probably with the 18-135 WR. Long story short, I was mistaken about the location of the mortars, and the fireworks were directly overhead. I put the 15mm back on the K-50, pointed the camera straight up, and did the bulb mode equivalent of spray and pray. I honestly didn't think I was going to get anything usable at all. Wrong again. No landscape or water reflections, but some of the best isolated fireworks shots I've ever gotten.

I think so. Also found that post-processing that lightens the picture will make the starbursts less distinct.
I like your pictures freerider, especially the first and third. I very much want to come in to the city centre and take pictures like these, but it seems like every time I get a chance, the subway and half the streets are closed.
