Comments in the chat are slightly irritating but it's interesting to hear Ricoh's thought process.

I don't think many people outside of professionals or video enthusiasts want 4k,since it's very heavy on the cpu load when processing it in editing software

That video is ridiculous. I had a nice "discussion" with someone in comments under the video, someone that thinks no one buys non 4k cameras and that it's just a given that all cameras have it. Not listening to people explaining that 4k tends to generate a ton of heat and requires tons of computational power that will not happen in a $500 full frame (right) entry (what?) camera.
I talked with a few soccer moms and dads on the field, and none of them knew what full frame is and what are the pros/cons of going full frame.
That video is just wishful thinking. And an echo chamber of people that review photo gear for living.

Yup that's great! If that works with GRIII batteries I'll pick one up. Thanks!

I see. Interesting that the battery capacity increased, yet we see a fairly significant drop in shots per charge. I guess Ibis is that power hungry.

Are those batteries unique to GRIII? I didn't look it up, for some reason I thought they'd just use batteries from GRII, I think I'm off on that? ---------- Post added 02-24-19 at 03:01 PM ---------- My dreams of traveling with a backpack and the least amounts of stuff is shattered :)

I hope to avoid carrying 3 charges while traveling. Would be cool if I'll be able to get one with two battery slots, whether it's from ricoh or third party, less stuff to carry - less stuff that gets lost and forgotten in hotel rooms)

Yeah I know, I did the same with GRII. I do have a power bank as well.
I'm not worried about swapping batteries on the go. I'm more worried about charging those batteries after, say when I'm traveling. I wonder how fast it charges, and if I could buy a battery charger that can charge two at the same time.

I bet Ibis eats a ton of battery.
I'm curious how many shots I'll be able to get in real life though. Might have to pick up few batteries and carry with me.

This specifies that gr series was never meant to be a Swiss army knife of cameras, it's a tool for photography and specifically for snap shots/street. It's in the concept of the series. They mention is like 3 times. Video was not mentioned at all in their description. So people that want a 4k camera with all the bells and whistles are looking at a wrong product here.

Ugh. If they added 4k video, people would ask for a mic input, audio output, flippy screen for vlogging, zebras and audio levels. And more. Which they can't do without making the camera bigger, plus needing to use more expensive components which would lead to even higher price.
Can we just enjoy that we got one of the best street point and shoot cameras on the market?
