There is no starless DFA 50mm that people could confuse it with. The previous 50mm lens is FA. So it's pretty clear what people mean when they say DFA 50mm.
Pentax also believes this is the best lens they've made in the modern era, at least in terms of image quality:
"The HD PENTAX-D FA★ 50mmF1.4 SDM AW is a large-aperture, single-focus standard lens with a maximum aperture of F1.4, which ensures the highest image quality of all lenses designed for use with K-mount digital SLR cameras."

The DFA 50mm f1.4 is unquestionably the best modern lens made by Pentax. That's my opinion... I don't think I know any users that are dissatisfied with the performance of this lens. The only downside of course is the weight.

The DFA 70-200mm suffers from focus breathing. Canon and the new Nikon don't have this problem. What exactly is your basis for thinking the Pentax zoom is better?
