Thought the topic (per its title) was why one might not buy the K-3, not just the reason given by the OP. Do we need a thread called "I like the Ricoh name, but I'm still not getting a K-3 right now."?

The Ricoh name on the camera was never an issue for me. I'm glad you have not had problems, but there sure are a lot of threads from people with other results. I'm just not an early adopter, I guess.

My "Why" is in these threads. Bugs and glitches happen with every new model. Call me in 6 months to a year, and I'll jump on, but I don't have the patience for beta testing I once had.

There is a time for both. I love the feel of the K-5, and the battery grip is sometimes welcome for weight and stability. Putting a K-x (or K01) and kit lens in a waist pack and barely noticing it is there has its charms, too.

Totally agree. For me, the issue is whether it really turns out to be the best or substantially better. Not sure whether the wireless tether (a cool feature that caught my eye) will be available upon release, either. The card is not mentioned as an accessory in the Adorama page.

Wow! The things that make a thread, here. I check in from a long absence to get some 411 on the new body, and the threads are about the brand name on the back and whether the moderator of the board accurately stated the brand of the sensor.
Why I probably won't buy the K3 (right now) is that I don't know whether, on balance, an actual production copy is likely to improve upon my K5. I still remember the sensor stains and all kinds of other glitches which usually keep me from being an early adopter.
