The rule of thirds (which is approximate, not immutable) generally still places the point of focus in an area fairly near the "center" for lens sharpness tests. For example, Photozone's use of Imatest puts the areas other than the "center" pretty far out toward the corners. Bad corner sharpness means softness way out in the corner (blue circle), and the "border" figure is just inside that corner. If you have a landscape with lots of important detail, this area is more important. |

I'd be very interested in your thoughts on the 135 comparison. I own, know and love both those options, if you mean the SMC K 135/2.5. I have not done a controlled comparison, but I find each of them has qualities I really like..
