I was about to lower my offer on the 12-24. BTW, you need to email or call me to work out details.

Nice stuff, Jay.
It does seem harder to take a crappy shot with this lens than most, but I've sent a few to the backup drive of no return.
The 15mm controls my vision of Antonio Gaudi.

Thanks. The 15mm is becoming my favorite indoor lens. What caught my eye for this shot was the painting juxtaposed with the man. The angle I could get with the 15mm made the shot. (The K-x sure helped as well for the ISO 1600)
This serious, and very well-regarded winemaker patiently and passionately took us through his vineyards. I have the feeling, though, that his tasting room was designed by his wife, who is known to be a very "colorful" figure in the Spanish wine community.
Another interesting juxtaposition from that visit:
Same friend with a hat, same lens (wide open at ISO 6400) and a different, more animated winemaker in his moldy underground Bat-cave: |

It will do some of what the Sigma does in a much smaller space, say 1/3 of the volume.

A little bit like this. (Pardon the wrist strap attachment)
I might also add that this look is highly recommended. |

Very nice shots. I found I did use the kit lens at around 22-24mm as well as the extremes, so I keep the DA21 around with the DA15. It doesn't take up much extra space.

Which is why I picked up (almost) all the DA series. Still, I wonder if the narrow streets of Andalucia might not benefit from something wider than 15mm.

Nice, that seems to be a good FL for close in town shots. So, do you find yourself using the DA 12-24 as much?

Bokeh and 15mm/F:4 are hard to come by with a hyperfocal distance of about 3'. Your subject will have to be very, very close for the background to be rendered out of focus enough to even talk about bokeh. I have searched through all my photos with this lens, and I can't find any example with background blurred enough to judge. The lens does focus to about 7-8 inches, so maybe that shot will come.

I haven't seen a shot yet, either posted or on my own, that would cause me to be dissatisfied.

What a difference 60 miles (and 1,500 feet up) makes. Nothing on the ground here.

Funny you should mention that, because I did notice a difference between Firefox and IE. However, it is not as large as the difference in monitors. Both have been calibrated at some point, as well.

You know, I just logged in to my work computer and saw that my last posted photo crop looks about 1 stop darker than on my home computer. It is a bit of thread drift, but this does make me wonder how different all of the photos we post look to the various participants around the world viewing them on different monitors.

From the standpoint of taking pictures, rather than looking at pixels wide open, this lens is near perfect in balancing size and resolution IMO. Below is a 100% crop from a film shot. It is not a perfect test, because the focus was not actually on these chain links, but the lens is stopped way down to f/11. The links are so far to the extreme borders that parts of them are not even within the APS-C frame. The dark in the lower right corner is the absolute edge of the image circle. To get an idea of the location of this crop, look at a larger view of a similar shot I posted here https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/920416-post151.html . The chain links were slightly closer to the edge in this frame.

Seems like a sharpness problem on a lens with a depth of field from 1 meter to infinity wide open is not likely to be a FF or BF problem on the magnitude of the adjustments in the K20d. It probably is time to have Pentax look at it. On a bright day, you could pretty much set the hyperfocal point and turn AF off.

Or here is the panoramic effect by cropping film. The crop below is roughly 15x29 mm. This lens is just great fun! |
