I have to love the HD DA 40mm.
This is a 16:9 crop to get rid of the sky, and it is sharp from the foreground sunlit grass to the hills.

These are from Fort Brockhurst, one of Palmerston's follies while they had a rare 4 day opening to the public. It houses antiquities, and there was a stores tour with the curator, not shown here.
All these have had some processing, I have found that the DA 21 is much more versatile than I imagined after neglecting to use it for some time.
I purposefully went out with the 21, 40 and 70 after using the 18-135 WR previously, and the 21 stayed on most of the time.
