I believe the commerce commission is advising against dealing with this company. They are/have been dealing with a number of complaints about this crowd and have a warning on their website.

The Tamron 28-200 and the DA-L 50-200 both sold this weekend. I almost wasn't going to relist them again.
Just the 55-300 to go. I really thought this lens would've gone first.:(

I have re listed my lenses on tme. The 55-300 DA-L is down to $160 and the 50-200 DA-L WR is down to $80. Very small market out there for selling the less known brands. :(

"
1. Put both lids of the toilet up and add 1/8 cup of pet shampoo to the water in the bowl.

2. Pick up the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.

3. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close the lid. You may need to stand on the lid.

4. At this point the cat will self-agitate and make ample suds. Never mind the noises that come from the toilet – the cat is actually enjoying this!

5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a “power-wash” and “rinse.”

6. Have someone open the front door of your home. Be sure that there are no people between the bathroom and the front door.

7. Stand well back, behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift the lid.

8. The cat will rocket out of the toilet, streak through the bathroom, and run outside where he will dry himself off.

9. Both the toilet and the cat will be sparkling clean.

Yours sincerely,
The Dog

Ross, I'm sorry that the big lens needs work. As I mentioned at the time, the chap who owned the lens, Phil Brown died last January. This week in the Te Awamutu library there is an exhibition of his work as a photographer. I am going up this morning to have a look.
Here is a link to the newspaper article from today's edition. I hope it will open, page three. He was a Pentax man right from the start. This might give you a bit of history behind the lens.

The DA 55-300 is not the WR version. I bought it 12 months ago from Aust. I have been very happy with the photos. But, my idea of a great image may differ from yours. I do not go pixel peeping at 100%, and all my photos are jpegs. It has an aftermarket screw in lens hood.

I was going to start this lens at $200 on Tme. anyone here can have it for $180 plus postage.

Well, I did something I now already wish I hadn't. Sold the K50 this morning. :) Feeling gutted but I don't need two camera systems and the Nikon has 1/3rd the usage the K50 has done. I got as good a price for it with a 18-50 kit lens as I would ever had gotten on Trade me, and without all the questions and postage hassles.

So now, I have a DA-L 50-200 WR , a DA 18-50 WR , a DA 55-300, a Kepcor 2x converter and a 55M f2.0 prime to move on. I will keep the old 50 f1.7 that Ross gifted me. Will list them separately in a couple of weeks. If anyone here is interested in any of the lenses, let me know. I'm going to put the money towards a 17-50/24-70 f2.8 to compliment the 70-200 f2.8 used on the Nikon.

I had no problems with taking the K50 into Rugby park for a super rugby game. It was a miserable night, and I had slung the camera under my raincoat (remember them?). And if owning a dslr means I am a commercial photographer WHERE'S MY MONEY???:mad::mad:

I wrote to the Northern Districts Cricket body with this query,
' Am I allowed to bring my dslr camera into Seddon park? It has a video function (as do all cell phones) but I never use it. . The photos are for my own use and this is just a hobby.'

Their reply is ' As stated on the Seddon Park website, commercial cameras are not permitted into the ground. As it is a commercial camera, but is used for personal use, I am unsure if it will be allowed. Your best bet is to bring it and if you are not allowed, security will say so.'

The conditions mentions video recording devices, not being allowed, nothing about commercial or any other form of photography.
Would it be worth me trying to take it in? ;)

Re video as above posts, I don't think I have ever used the video mode on my K50.

Your website is amazing. You have done your homework there. I do not have the equipment or the finances to set myself up as a semi-pro sports photographer. The wear and tear on gear is something others don't see, even I forget about the shutter activation's climbing up each weekend. 64,440 as of this morning's cycle ride. It was 13,800 when I bought the K50 14 months ago. I find that I have cut down the 'machine gunning' an awful lot, although when the action gets serious, I tend to hit the 'fast' button.
When a club is run on volunteer labour and they struggle for funds and sponsorship each year it is hard to expect them to front up with my needs.

I received a email today from the lady who will be managing the local team in the regional football (soccer) premiership competition this coming season. She has asked me to be the team photographer this year. It means following the team at home and away games.

I am of two minds 1; it feels good to be asked to be involved as a photographer :) 2; I feel like I would have to step up my performance as a photographer.

One reason for not following a soccer team,,, I find soccer mostly boring,,, to watch, and to photograph. I did follow the woman's team last year and enjoyed that. Lots of laughter and giggles and at a slower pace.

Last winter I also attended a number of home games at a local country rugby club and really enjoyed that. With rugby, you get the ball in hand, the physical contests at lineouts and mauls, the facial expressions, the mud, and when a try is scored the player is usually grasping the ball, and diving for the line.

Has anyone here followed a sport through its' season?

I should persevere with the teleconverter to see what can be done with it. I did read somewhere that it works better with an internal focusing lens.

zkarj, I tried the M200 with the 2x converter. I got one good focused shot, but then I was hand holding the unit and wobbling around like a blob of jelly.

I like the black cat pic.

Clarkey, is that pic from between the campground and the entrance to the harbour? I have never visited that part of the beach. The same clouds are still there.

I found two K mount lenses in amongst the canon listings last night. One is a 200 M f4, the other is a
'Vintage Rare Vivitar 50mm f1.7 K-mount.' both are sitting around the $10 mark.

I usually post at 900kp but the cat and bird pics above are 640 which is more than enough. Sometimes a bigger copy does give an image a greater impact though. The community fb page where I post some photos has a large group of people, mostly women, who love the images and that is more satisfying than $10 in the mailbox.

The K mount Tamron 28-200 arrived from Aus. I am trying to like it, not easy tho'. The images are not as good as the DA 18-50 or 50-200. It is nice to have that range from 28 to 140ish in one lens. So far it is not a patch on the Tamron 18-200 I have on the Nikon.

The cat will be a smoocher one minute and rip your hand to shreds the next. It stalks the dog then leaps onto it's back just like a cheetah bringing down an antelope. The little dog is very wary of it. The cat takes no shit from anyone. :(

'They' are two Sigma 70-200 f2.8 lenses for Nikon mounts. One works okay, the other has given up on auto focus but functions perfectly on manual focus. ( a common problem with these sigmas). Bruce used them for sports photography several years ago but since upgrading, they have just sat around. He sent them over for me to use and decide which one I prefer'd , if either. $200 for the better one, $100 for the other. I told him I would take the $200 one and a good friend would probably be keen on the other. Bruce told me this morning, that 200 will cover both lenses. They owed him nothing.

A really good bloke, and, he doesn't even own a Pentax?? . :)

A drought at ground level, and a deluge hovering above.

Supposed to be fairly rough everywhere today/tomorrow. Crap weather about to hit just as I get a 70-200 f2.8 to play with.:mad::mad:
