I was in Yellowstone last weekend with a friend when a man came up to us. He spotted our Pentax gear and he struck up a conversation.
He had a K1 with a DFA 150-450, I had my K3 III with a DFA 150-450 and my friend had her KP with a DA 55-300. He was a very positive Pentax user.
I asked him if he was on the Forum and he said "not any more". Apparently some negative comments had caused him to drop off the board. I didn't pursue the issue.
It was good to find another Pentaxian enjoying the Park.

Well, I can't say I've never seen a Pentax in the wild any more. Last weekend at the Warbird Roundup 2019 in Nampa, Idaho I saw one man with a K1 and a K3 and another man with a K5.
I talked to the man with the K1 for a while. He started with a K1000. Nikon was by far the most popular. To make this trip even more unusual, I picked up a D-FA 28-105 lens at Idaho Camera. They had it in stock. Turns out one of the salesmen shoots Pentax.

Went to the "World Center for Birds of Prey" Fall Flight event last week in Boise.
Sat next to a Nikon shooter. Was more interested in the guy in front of me using his Canon AE-1.
Same weekend was at the Gowen Thunder Air Show in Boise. Saw a mix of cameras no Pentax other than me. Did laugh a little when I saw the front page of the local newspaper the following day.
The picture they had for the air show looked very close to one of mine. Their shooter must have been close to my viewlng location.

Yesterday I'm in Yellowstone watching an Osprey nest.... A polite guy with a Nikon walks up and asks if I got any good shots. Then he takes a look at my camera and says with surprise " I haven't seen a Pentax...........in years". I agree with him that they aren't popular. He says very quietly "but they do make good cameras". Then he moves away - either to get a better location to shoot or maybe to get away from the crazy person.....

My unofficial count from Yellowstone this weekend...
Canon about 3 to 1 over Nikon.
I saw one Sony.
I had the only Pentax.
Too many iphones and selfie sticks to count....
