Thank you very much for your comment. That is what RL deconvolution does, better than "usnharp mask" IMHO... Then the bokeh looks like more "natural"..
Let's cross fingers..;)

Hi dave,
sorry for my late answer...
I neither like LR for RAW Processing. Besides RAW process with Pentax files is worse than with Canon files. So I also gave up using LR as a RAW processor. But I use it to catalog my files and for Plug-in third softwares, it's convenient.
I use DxO Prime for noise reduction (only) for (nearly) all my files and convert them to .dng files. Then I use other RAW/TIFF processors. RawTherapee, Piccure +, Iridient developer (and even LR) can process .dng files made by DxO Optics Pro (don't remember about Darktable). When converted to Tiff (for example processed in Piccure +), Iridient Developer is the only one which can fix lens distortion using LCP files for Tiff files (for my Leica-R lenses from LR) while LR itself is not able to make it (only for DNG/dng/RAW files).
Iridient Developer is a nice Raw Processor also. RawTherapee (since v5.3) is very convenient for Pixel Shift files (I just tried) but I do not use PS files for the moment. Piccure + is unreliable because of randomized results according to different files. Besides, target folders are very sensitive with pentax files, for example I used to push "lens rendering" at only between 3 and 7 (instead of 15) for not to have any artefacts... I do not really understand how it works, it's not repeatable for different pictures (different criterias/target folder results), it crashes with plug-in versions and processing is very slow compared to the others (although I have a modified MacPro 2009 hexacore W3680 with 48GB RAM and SSD, about two and half minutes to process). So I stopped Piccure+... Iridient Developer, RawTherapee and Piccure+ use RL deconvolution, not LR.
Then I use Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 for my B&W process or Tonality CK I'm trying (made by the same team actually). I like very much Tonality CK because I can use masks and layers, I like very much Nik SEP2 for U-points. DxO team bought Nik collection and just created DxO Photolab, I hope it's a nice software rising the benefits of the two last ones (Tonality CK & Nik SEP2) at the same time... Let us see about it.
I can't tell you about Luminar because I do not use it for the moment although I like very much Tonality CK. Capture One pro is an excellent RAW processor but I do not use it... Perhaps I should.
Last but not least, I think I shortly buy Iridient thanks to distortion Leica-R lenses correction with Tiff files and because I like it very much working with it, very quick, very simple and very efficient. Best regards, teiki. Original DNG file in LR without any correction, as it is. Fantasy colored with Iridient Developer and LCP distortion correction
after Dxo Prime to look like oversaturated color slide roll... Semana santa de Alicante, Leica-R 28/2.8(II).
DxO Prime to .dng file,
Iridient Developer to Tiff file using LCP distortion correction file from LR (not color oversaturated), and
Tonality CK for B&W conversion. For fun...

Hello Dave,
I am not sure piccure + is worth to get it. I used it but hardly as I do not know what is going on. I do not say it's bad but I think I prefer using R L deconvolution sharpening with Rawtherapee or Iridient and noise reduction thanks to Prime DxO Optics Pro 11. I have no enough experience with Capture One Pro which is also excellent. But LR is not so good with DNG K-1 files. What do you think about it?
teiki.

Hi Gedeon,
Leica Summilux-R 80/1.4 is not an Apo lens. So at far distances, you can be disappointed... That's not the case with Leica Apo-Summicron-R 90/2 Asph in the same range of focal length... ;)

The last one of course with the built-in sunshade... The previous version is not so good but cheaper..;) I kept my Yashica T4/T5 which I love because of the Carl Zeiss T* Tessar 35/3.5... I had them for 30% of the price at that time, a Carrefour promotion, I bought the last four, one for my father (he thought I stole them), one for me and for my girlfriend which is my wife now. I jealously guarded them.. She went to Cambodia in 1995 for her brother's wedding and took outstanding pictures with it! But I already went for Leica-R gear... |

Hi Gedeon,
did you have the opportunity to compare it to the Leica Elmarit-R 28/2.8 ROM I own?
Thank you for answering. Anyway, I am so pleased with mine that I am not inclined to leave it... but it is just curiosity. |

Yes I did Gedeon,
but I am not interested as I have my Leica Summicron-R 35/2 (less good than any new 35mm lenses I admit but I like it very much for his tonal/gray scale), and if I want to buy a new 35/2 which actually is not my focal length, I should go for the Sigma Art 35/1.4...;)
Thanks! The only lens I would be interested in is the Mitakon Speedmaster 85/1.2, but I also have my Leica 90/AA which is lighter, excellent even W.O. and with a mini distance at 70cm... |

Hi Gedeon,
most of the time, your process is perfect. I wish I could do as well. Bravo.;) Is it a native Zeiss ZK mount?
Edit: I am answering to myself: yes, it is a zk...
The first is at f:8 and the second at f:3.2...

It looks like but it's not. Anyway, it's a "must-have".. |

Hi Gedeon,
try the tenpa 1.22x, it's very efficient compared to O-ME53..

The tank with his barrel ... To keep a low profile, it's the solution.. :o
For sure it's excellent... The Sigma Art 85/1.4 could have been my favorite for a better price/performance ratio but not for their bulk...
Why didn't you choose the Sigma one?

It's not the focal length I either like since I use the 28 for his kind of wide-angle perspective. I bought the Sigma ART 35mm f:1.4 that I used for while with my Eos 6D; it's an excellent lens indeed but I gave up because I don't use it so much and because the Sigma lens is much bigger than my Leica-R 35/2 (I can put it in my jean's pocket) that I don't either use so often.. In the same vein, I had Leica Apo-Telyt-R 180/3.4 & Apo-Elmarit-R 180/2.8 which are terrific lenses but I rarely used them and I sold them for a fraction of price found on eBay nowdays...

I actually do not know if "Leitz or Zeiss lenses outperform Pentax primes", but I had already Leitz Lenses before buying the Pentax K-1, which fit very well with roll films on my Leica-R cameras (R8x2, R6, R4s, R5), with my Canon EOS 5D/5DMKII/6D... Each time I change camera, my Leitz lenses behave so well that I decided not to buy anything else... even for the "crap" Leica Summicron-R 35/2 that I like so much even if it's not my favorite fixed focal length... :)

Hello Chris,
why to compare two different lenses (25 & 28) on their inherent quality in stead of different uses according to their different fixed focal length.. As I am concerned, I use a lens accordng to his fixed focal lens.. For example, I love the 28mm since I tried Nikon AI-28/2 in 1986, and fortunatly I have been using the Leica Elmarit-R 28/2.8 ROM since 1996 but now on K-1 and I am lucky it's a fantastic lens... Am I wrong?
