Thanks for saying so :) - I'm still ambivalent about the toned version, but will be a lot happier trying it on other photos.

Some softer roses from the same bush on another day, taken with the long end of the kit DA 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 AL on a K10d. Think I was struggling to frame them nicely, but I do like the colours and form;

It's Dietes Bicolor, a South African native, often used for park or roadside plantings here. eg median strips on busy roads. Tough and reliable.
