One more, but this time with DFA*85. Almost missed this perfect body drag completely when AFC decided that moving waves are much more interesting than windsurfer in the center. Luckily one frame was close enough. My mistake as I just switched from manual lenses to af and hadn't yet chanced af area to spot. |

Next set from M*300:
Catch in focus is such nice feature. While I shot these I kept high burst on and trigger pressed all the time and controlled shooting by adjusting focus. Stay in front of the rider while waiting for rider to arrive in section where I want to shoot and then turn into focus when I want pics to be taken. Short burst here and there where there might be good action.

I had a good windsurfing shooting session on Monday. Plenty of manual focus vintage prime lens action mostly from M*300/4. Here's the first set pics, but there's more to come. Not gonna thow away the best shots in first post
I do cross post these also to M club.

I spent a day at Finnhorse national champion race with M*300 on my K1ii. I'm used to 1/1500 to freeze target even in faster sports, but this time it wasn't quite enough to produce tack sharp horses. Not a big issue and not visible in smaller size, but something to remember next time I shoot horses that go this fast. I shot both wide open and f5.6, but can't tell for certain which is which. |

Some Catch In Focus action with M*300 in winds up to 25m/s. It was blowing so hard that my eye kept pouring water while shooting which made it pretty hard to see. I just tried to keep the target in the center and listen to the shutter sound to indicate the right focus. Still I got better hit rate with M*300 and K1II than I did with DFA*85 and K3 while relying on AFC with latter combination. |

It would go really nicely on the ice in your shot. It looks so smooth.

Kite is the most dangerous in summer and in winter. I haven't tried wing myself, but I here it's really easy and it depowers very well and if you have a leash you can just let go. It flips around and stops there. Several friends that have tried it this winter have ended up buing one too, so I think I try to avoid trying :D

I was in Rally Finland this weekend. I had only M75-150 for single in challenge and DFA*85 with me. Should've taken more lenses, at least M*300, but I felt lazy and didn't want to carry too much.
Light was little on the low side with cloudy autumn weather, so I pumped up the ISO to get the speed to freeze the cars. Official photogs had flash light by the road to give them more light, but that was no option for me. Like I couldn't get close to action like them.
Shots with M75-150 was taken with prefocus as weather was too dim for catch in focus to work with fast mocing cars. It just didn't lock fast enough on K1ii. DFA*85 shots taken with AFC. It did reasonably good work even with narrow DOF. Maybe half had good enough focus. |

With K1ii I don't see much difference in amount of keepers between DFA*85 and my manual lenses shot with catch in focus. K3III would probably be game chancer with high burst and new AF, but in reality it would mainly mean more files to go thru and delete. There's a limit on how many frames I need from one set.

It's nice to have WR body and lens in this weather. The big hood of DFA*85 even keeps lens free from water :) |

I took some winter windsurfing shots today. I'm shooting Yashinon Tomioka 60/2.8 macro this month in Single In Challenge, so no catch in focus to make it easy, but it went surprisingly well in pure manual style. |
