Mike, don't forget to add "Power attracts the corrupt and corruptible."
And quite clearly they're there. ;)
What we really ought to do is make positions of power unnatractive. That way we might hopefully get a higher percentage of people in the higher levels who really do want to have the job in order to do what's best.

Well, right now they may have internet monitoring (joke or not), but their legit control is relatively small. I wonder how long that'll last?
Look at 9/11. wherever those attacks came from, the result in our government was that the attacks were used to justify the creation of laws and agencies allowing the government to excersize stricter control over travel and circumvent constitutional rights on a person's privacy. All of a sudden we have these giant cyber-attacks, god only knows where from (N. Korea's easy to blame) while there's a bill coming up to give the US government broader powers to enforce their will on the internet... I wonder what other sorts of legislation they might squeeze out of this...
