good point, I did notice just now that there was a couple loose tiny screws near the front element. I tightened them and I will see if this helps. It seems the zoom ring is a little easier now too :) there are some screws on the zoom ring but I am afraid to loosen them too much:eek: https://www.flickr.com/photos/wadeabbey/shares/4Y31K5 |

yeah I can live with it, It does seem to do well midrange and at the longer focal lengths wide open. I think it could make a decent portrait lens also. The macro is kinda weird too, it seems the minimum focusing distance is shorter for the wider focal lengths and longer for 105mm. I can get really close at 50mm as opposed to 105mm. i need to play with this feature some more.

I did some lens testing today with film and I noticed a weird thing. When shooting at 35mm wide open at 3.5 I get this weird blurring on the right side. If I stop down it goes away or if I zoom in. I dont think this is a big problem because I rarely shoot wide open at 35mm. It is a quirky lens and I think I enjoy shooting with it.

I made a little mistake and diluted rodinal 1:200 and developed for 4 hours. HP5 400 pushed to iso 1600. next time I wont dilute as much. some others on the roll didn't turn out as well. thanks for the comment. ---------- Post added 03-08-17 at 06:29 PM ---------- I think HP5 is best pushed with stock microphen IMO, less hassle. that was 105mm and f16 I believe

I am going to shoot a roll of HP5 with it and see. A lady I go to church with gave me a bunch of old pentax gear she had in storage. She gave me a k1000 that has a tiny bit of fungus in the prism but not as bad as my old one. This k1000 looks to be made in Hong kong, she thinks early 80's. The lens seems really solid and heavy!!, well made. The elements seem clean. The only thing is the zoom is a tad stiff, but not bad. Also got a pentax 50mm asahi f2 :). Not a bad deal for free!!
macro seems ok, only goes to 1:5. probably will be OK for flowers etc. ---------- Post added 03-05-17 at 09:13 PM ---------- wade_abbey has shared 1 photo with you! | Flickr this is the kit she gave me. Unused rolls of color film are 10+yrs old

I was thinking maybe it could be Pentax made but now not so sure. It is heavy and says macro also. no auto if that is what the A is for. thanks for the pic and reply ---------- Post added 03-05-17 at 06:54 PM ---------- better view ---------- Post added 03-05-17 at 07:09 PM ---------- ---------- Post added 03-05-17 at 07:10 PM ---------- ---------- Post added 03-05-17 at 07:11 PM ---------- ---------- Post added 03-05-17 at 07:16 PM ---------- |
