All taken with the DFA 24-70/2.8 lens. When viewing or photographing flowers & blossoms I am so impressed with the amazing beauty. Especially with photos where the detail is seen up close. But at the same time I am also amazed at the vast variety of insects that most likely see the flowers as simply a life supporting substance. Actually I don't know if they see not the beauty, perhaps they do. It is said that the brain of a honey bee has the same components as the human brain, just quite a bit smaller. So who knows exactly how insects interpret the world. Just sharing my crazy thoughts...I know, stick with sharing just the photos:(

Most of my bird shots, especially the ones of warblers, are taken at about 10 meters. Sometimes a wee bit closer or farther. Here are examples of where distance, or proximity really makes a difference.
First shot is a Great Crested Flycatcher taken at roughly 80 meters.
Second shot is the Eastern Kingbird taken at about 20 meters. With the DA 1.4 TC mounted.
Third shot a house wren taken at 8 meters. All my bird photos are hand held with the DFA 150-450 lens. On days when the light is good I will add the 1.4 tele converter. Some day I hope to obtain the DA 55-300 to give my old arms a rest. For many shots I believe it would do as well as the beast.

Hello Eric, I favor the slow speed shot. It has been quite some time since I was on this thread, and thank you very much for your concern. The Luxembourg creature has returned so I reckon it is time for me to get with the program..:hmm:

You had plenty of time before, so now I guess with a little bit more that means you have an excess of time. Is that your silly excuse for abandoning us, lack of time...:( Certainly you must know that I expect top of the line superb images posted by you...since you have a bit more time to capture them...:D And if you think for one minute that I am going to be like the others and say I missed you, well think again mister...well OK, a little bit...:) I do hope Rupert told you where you could stick your weird moon shots...:rolleyes: Four years ago redpit mentioned the joyful and calm mood in the PF...well it was what it was...and now it is what it is............welcome back Frederic:)

During the winter I did some copying of old slides. Very disappointing, thought that I had stored them well but a great deal of quality is gone. Oh well, it is what it is.
The first photo of Pittsburgh was taken in June of 1968 with my good old Spotmatic. The 2 point bridges were still standing.
The second photo was taken in January of 1990 with my good old MX. The old bridges are gone, and also gone is the air pollution from the steel mills. Unfortunately that was because the still mills were gone.

OMG, I loaded the full resolution version then zoomed it...wow. Just the center section of the photo with the superb detail of the plants, stream & stones, with the water fall back ground and the stones foreground...it's a scene in its self. That is the sorta photo I enjoy studying, thanks for the link to that version. And I am sure you know that it gives me great pleasure to know that someone like you enjoys the happy fruits of my labor.

Arjay that is a totally awesome and beautiful scene, I mean everything about it. Most likely the color version is also beautiful but I doubt that it would project the same mood. I would imagine that a large print of that would look stunning.

Had several male blackburnian warblers I was watching, here's shots of 2 of them. Last year I got some nice shots of the female but not the male. Strange how things change, this year so far I have not even seen a female.

Here are a few of the American Redstart male. There were 5 different males jumping around for me to attempt to capture. These are shots of 2 of them and I noticed when watching them that the colors are slightly different, perhaps due to the age of the bird or the angle of the light or the brightness.

Des, this yard bird photographer would do exactly as you stated. I would start with (a) and try other options. That fine warbler shot by Taks is shot @ 1/640, f7.1 with plenty of light obviously as the ISO is low, and produced great results.

Lidy, you did real good with that fine focus adjustment, excellent results. For me this forum is not just about photos, the chatting is an important people part of it all. There is such a vast amount of knowledge shared on this forum and I can only begin to tell anyone how grateful I am for that. The photos are a great pleasure to view and certainly enjoyable to be able to present & share our shots with others, but the remarks connect & bond us as members and being a part of the wonderful world of photography.

The last shots were of the black-throated blue warbler, now the black-throated green warbler female and male. Some of these shots are perfect examples of what Des was talking about, not quite nailing the focus where you want. Even though the second shot of the female is not great quality I love the composition...she can't eat lunch without a distracting buzzing thing. I did not see that honey bee until processing and I thought...cool.
