Loose Pentax-M 400mm mount

The tripod mount doesn't seem to be able to tighten all the way. When the screw is all the way in, the tripod mount can still rotate (but with drag). There are four positions around the barrel where the turning mount 'clicks' like there is a hole the screw is supposed to fit into - but it does not hold.

Is it easy to remove the mount without lens disassembly? Anyone have a service manual?
