200mm prime + TC, vs budget 300mm zoom?

In a nutshell, get the Pentax.

I have the Sigma 70-300mm and an SMC Pentax M 200mm f/4. The Sigma was pretty good value for the $100 that I paid, but there is no comparison between the two. The Pentax is in a completely different league. While I have never tried it with a 1.4x TC, I am sure that if you get the Pentax 1.4x-S converter you will be very happy.
