Time to start shooing film again.

The Super Program is in immaculate condition as is the 28mm lens. I'll run a few rolls through it before I think about getting it serviced.

In addition, though I have no photos, I received a Pentax-F 100 f2.8 Macro and a Pentax Macro Focusing Rail so I can start experimenting with macro a bit.

I also ordered ten different rolls of film from B&H (I don't think there is anywhere in town that sells film anymore.) It hasn't arrived yet, so at the moment the Super Program is just decorative...

I’m one of those people who look with envy at great deals others manage to find, then pays retail because that is all I can find. So I got unexpectedly a little lucky. A while back I wanted some extension tubes to mess around with, but most of my lenses don’t have an aperture ring so all the cheap $10 tube sets were pretty much useless. So I had scoured ebay for a couple months for the Kenko tubes, with no luck. Then I had to spend all my spare cash on a motorcycle and some parts. A couple days ago I was on eBay for something unrelated, and thought to search for “pentax kenko” for the first time in four months and viola new in the box:

Kenko Auto Extension Tube Set for Pentax AF, Made in Japan, Minty, New in Box | eBay

I’m not sure the price ($60) was spectacular, but it definitely seems better than a bunch of other previously sold sets. So this is my one rare win. I’m still looking for a 100 2.8 macro next.

I didn't really intend this, but I wanted a 50mm. I loved my F 28, so I figured another F, but 1.4 or 1.7? Well apparently both. I was looking for a 1.4 but they they were uncommon and usually overpriced a F50/1.7 was listed for $115 with an SF10 attached, so I figured what the heck, and bought it. Then I saw two F50/1.4s listed as actual auctions. So I ended up winning one of them for about $160.

A few days ago, another forum member said he had 200 50mm lenses, so having two isn't too redundant, right?

BTW, I love the industrial design on the F series, so I figured I might try some of the other primes like the two macros--50 and 100, and the 135. Are any of the F zooms any good, the reviews suggest they are a pretty mixed bag compared to the primes?

It should show up on Friday, but I leave for a week almost immediately. I have the Sigma 24mm ƒ1.8 EX DG Macro as well, plus the 21 limited and the F-28 ƒ2.8. I'll try and find a shot I can do with all of them, plus the new one, but I not very good with testing. I do like that this one looks fairly small like the F-28 ƒ2.8.

In my quest for the perfect 24mm (not that there are a lot of options...) I just snagged this on ebay:

I'm building up to the FA*24, then, maybe start looking at the manual focus option.

I may regret this, but on an impulse I bought this from a low-review count (though 100%) user on eBay:

It is claimed as "new, no box." This pic shows some dust on the zoom, but the other pic doesn't, so....but the price was too good for an underwater camera with two lenses. I don't know if those cards mean they have a extended warranty from Nikon? (and it shows two cards for the zoom?) PayPal protect me!

I have wanted one of these for a while and it was well less than half what the kit would go for new.

On an impulse purchase I bought a DA55-300 (not the DAL, but not the WR or PLM) for a hundred bucks shipped.its missing the hood, bag, and front lens cap, but all those can be replaced without pushing my total cost over about $125. The lens arrived today and looks basically unused.

A 21 and 40 limited are currently incoming. I'm (probably) one lens away from nirvana. (the longest I have is 135, and I'd like an occasional longer lens, probably buy a cheapie 55-300)

no pictures, but yesterday I received a Pentax F 28 ƒ2.8. Ran it through a few tests to make sure everything is good (see here.) And so far I'm quite happy with the condition for a 30 year old lens and the optics are quite nice. (and compared to my 18-135, this thing is tiny. Not quite pancake, but almost.)

Thanks, but the review on that page says it charges the battery, and the Q&A says it doesn't.

So, my 18-135 showed up yesterday from B&H and my K-3II showed up today from Beach. Woo hoo! I'm excited.

I do have one quick question. Does anyone know if I buy the optional "ac adapter kit", does that charge the battery in the camera, or does it only power the camera? (I'll be traveling with the camera, and I'll buy a second battery. So I'm wondering if I need to buy a second charger, or if, with the AC adapter kit, can I use the camera as a second charger.)

Well, I ordered a 18-135 from B&H--open box, so cheaper than new, but with a manufacturers warranty. I don't have a camera to put it on yet, but I get paid Thursday and I'll order the K-3 II to go with the lens. I've only had point-and-shoots since I put away my Nikkormat FTN in about 2003 (I took the Nikkormat to Ireland in 97, which was some of the last I shot with that. I don't remember the specific film I used, but it was a black and white film that processed with color chemicals, so I had a dozen rolls of black-and-white that I could drop off at a drug store for processing.) Some great images came from that camera, but I didn't have time or money to get serious about digital photography, so I stuck with higher end point and shoots for 15 years. I'm looking forward to trying out the pentax.
