You can send it as a box valued under 400 USD for under 16 to Canada. 16 to Audstralia even! Just look at the mailing overseas page and select package or box and dig a bit.

No, I told you my experience with a single lens! And I asked what you shoot in the Pentax line because there is a big difference in the SR of a K-50 and older versus a KP-K-3 series or the K-1 as far as how well it works.
Since you just claimed I have blinders on for Pentax, try to answer my question and quit making assumptions about me. Your generalizations are fallacious and Mack is an admin who was trying to give you a heads up when you start with aggressive statements. I don't think your initial statement was, but telling me I am wrong and have blinders on without presenting evidence to support your suppositions is weak tea.

Your experience is different than mine then. With my Sigma 120-400 HSM OS etc. I get better results with my KP and IBIS over the OS as well as much better battery life. What camera are you using with your OS lenses? If it is an older model with the previous version of Shake Reduction, OS could work better, but with the 5 axis SR, IO have better results at all focal lengths with the IBIS. I don't see the need for a 70-200 for my own personal use but I know that that length of zoom is extremely popular. I had a Sigma 70-200 2.8 HSM and it was nice but I l prefer the rendering of my Pentax lenses in that focal range, even if they are a bit slower.

Same blanks for certain but I thought coatings were the province of the final assembler?

Maybe the coatings had something to do with it?

Since they don't need to put complex, heavy, and expensive optical stabilization in their new lenses, they may fall into that niche no matter what the price point of the Pentax lens ends up being.

I have come close to pulling the trigger on an FA*85 several times but my LBA ran into my bank balances and lost. (Thank goodness!) I need to build up my reserves again before spending on a lens and the next purchase is probably going to be the DA* 11-18.

I have had a mixed experience with my Sigma lenses but the auto focus issue is huge in many models, and the difference in rendering between my Pentax lenses and my Sigmas is also huge! Modern or older, my Pentax lenses have much better color rendering than my Sigmas. The "Optically less good" is strange and screw drive is not really inferior, just noisier. My screw drive lenses other than macro are faster than my HSM lens. I would definitely spend several hundred more dollars for the FA* lens over the SIgma "equivalent." YMMV

Although I own the FA 77 Limited, if I had the funds available, I would have gotten one of the FA 85s that have been available over the last few months at Adorama and here in the forums. Just because the FA* lens is something that means, Wow!

I don't shoot portraits but if I had the 85 I suspect I would try to. It is like the FA*200 f4 Macro, I can't afford it but I would love to own it.

Well DFA will be needed if we start seeing 50 to 60 Megapixel FF cameras and 30+ Mpx APSC cameras. It will be possible to out resolve some of the FA lenses. My KP shows how bad my inexpensive Promaster 28-80mm is just looking at images SOOC. It was fine at 16Mpx.

I am intrigued by the upcoming 85mm but as I am an APSC shooter, probably have no real need for it. Want it? Of course I will lust after it. The only upcoming lens I am fairly sure I will be ordering near release will be the new 11-18. That I will consider selling a kidney to afford. (or maybe just use a credit card. :D )
