I suspect based on the value oriented products they have re-released with new coatings and such, that any of the added and or upgraded features in any new camera body willl have to be able to be added at a reasonable cost in materials and even on software. (Read that as, obsolete to Sony and even Canon, but still better than what is available in the Pentax line currently.)
Ricoh seems to get the firmware pretty close to right before release, but other things like IT seem to be ignored after a few patches, so they had better get it right at release. :).

Logically it is not from funding as from what we hear from Pentax, they have small teams and development has been ongoing with no news of lay-offs, so it is more likely to be deciding on parts and then making sure the overall experience and quality is up to Pentax standards. Just the software for a different processor and sensor package could be a sticking point, especially if they are moving to a larger buffer, (hopefully,) and or UHS-II. (Just for you Rico!)

And if you had been a tech prognosticator with a large following, and had posted those thoughts, you would still be eating large servings of Crow and humble pie even now! Mmmmm, Crow and Pie! :D

That is not BigMackCam. That is a reseller on the forums from Canada, not Mike.

The KP and grip weigh about what the K-3 does without the grip. I love it with big lenses, (DA*300, Sigma 120-400, 150-500, in other words, 2 to 4 pounders hand held.) I even will shoot using the grip with my Limiteds to take advantage of the additional controls on the grip for portrai mode. (I have very large hands.)

Nope, just the lens for people who hate sharpness for artistic reasons!
