Day two and another walk, this time in two parts. These are from a walk my late partner and I created following our own noses, which I followed again today wth some variations.

1. A small square where a handful of tuk-tuks can be found parked.
2. From what we called The Street of a Thousand Spare Car Parts. My fans were out in force today.
3. I Missed a guy welding earlier, but the gods had saved up the moment for this better image instead. When I saw the sparks on the Q-S1's little screen I knew this was going to be good. The chain looks like a bondage fetishist's worst night mare.

The second part of the walk is derived from one in the Lonely Planet for Bangkok’s Chinatown (which we managed to bugger up taking a wrong turning on the wrong unnamed street) and we eventually landed up on the walk where we followed our noses. Sometimes good luck happens.

1. Red and gold are not only auspicious, but eye catching.
2. A face in the crowd.
3. Here, Kitty, Kitty, Kitty, Kitty.
4. Two colours, two hats. Sometimes luck lets things fall into your lap. In Venice, on the Ponte Rialto I snapped (with my Leica) a Jew and a Muslim next to each other, having there own photos taken by their respective partners. This is another lucky moment like that. The traffic cop is in his helmet, and she is wearing a plastic wreath of almost the exact same colours. It’s lose enough for me.

I’m loving my Q-S1 on this trip, and I’ve used all three zooms so far, though I will admit I am not comfortable with the wide angle lens, but I’ll keep at it.

In Bangkok for a few days. It started off badly for me. Day one badly dehydrated after the flight despite my attempts to remain hydrated. Day two, a bad night's sleep and severe indigestion kept me flat on my back, and having to cancel the chance to meet a friend I've not seen for five years. Maybe next trip!

At least today I got up (late catching up on lost sleep) and spent 2 hours doing a little walk near the hotel. There's one of several shrines I saw; tangled wires, an obsession of my late partner I have enjoyed continuing; the old Customs House and a detail from one of the windows there; a street scene with the ubiquitous tuk-tuk! I took loads more, but I'm on holiday!

Looking from a courtyard from one side of the Limmat to the Lindenhof in Zurich I noticed how the lamp and the hut were serendipitously aligned. I have been in that courtyard quite a few times over the past 30 years and never noticed until that day. Taken at full stretch on the 06 lens.

OK, the purists will argue there is some fringing when you look at it in close detail (and it's nowhere near as bad as in the early days of digital photography), but as a holiday snap with a difference, taken on a camera with a difference, I'm not complaining (and I'm not going to spend hours at the computer tarting it up to remove the fringing), especially as you can see the ruddy pigeons clearly on the roof of the hut!

I should have said I know bits of Singapore white well. I was a tiny tot in the 50s at RAF Changi and I've made fifteen return visits since 1989.

I agree Chinatown is nothing exciting (apart from the availability of free Wifi). I don't know why I haven't been round Little India more. I guess I will need to put that right! I enjoy the CBD when it's empty at weekends. I hope I might get the chance to see some of the otters.

During my last visit, I was at the rail terminus at Tanjong Pagar when they opened it for the last time on Xmas Day 2016. I had a great time with my QS1 and Leica and got a couple of acceptable photos that day. I hope you were there on one of the open days. Not only did I have a wonderful time, it was a trip down memory lane, remembering an extremely late arrival on the train all the way from Butterworth in 2011.

:-)

I'm glad you've captured some images from Dakota Crescent. There's a lot of "old" post colonial stuff that will have to be replaced, but it seems too much is being replaced without retaining something special, like the play area. All the while even more expensive condos air going up to satisfy the appetites of ex-pats and airbnb.

Any suggestions where this ang mo could go on his next trip in March?[COLOR="Silver"]

My first ever fish eye photo on any camera. Loving my QS1 more and more.

And finally, a photo and a crop to show off what a bloody good combination the Q-S1 and the 06 lens are, even in my clumsy paws.

What else does one do on New Year's Day other than go inside the Basilica San Marco?

Thanks for the comment. I'm rather pleased with it too!

The image is as taken with no jiggery-pokery from me.

I have only the Q-S1 and used the 01 Standard Prime. I took only that lens on this recent trip to see how I would get on. Venice is relatively easy for me to get to and I've been going there at least once a year since 2005. It is as endlessly fascinating city especially off the beaten track.

Second attempt at posting.

I call this Mondrian in Venice, taken in the backstreets of Burano on (yet another) recent trip to Venice.
