Great timing! And framing, not to mention exposure and focus. Nicely done.

Nice one, Tim. It looks like the old town has been spruced up since I was last there, although that was a long time ago, when it looked not unlike the way it was in Frank Meadow Sutcliffe’s photos.

For the record, it’s “trompe l'oeil”, not “trompe d'oeil”, literally meaning “trick the eye” (not “trick of eye”, which is what trompe d'oeil translates as). It’s been used in art and architecture for a long time – the oldest example I can think of is with Greek columns that were tapered at the top, not for any structural reason, but because they looked more correct that way when viewed from below. Pavement artists use it to give the impression there’s another world below your feet.

The Abbey at Melk. You were more fortunate with the light than I was – we got there as the sun was casting fairly long shadows. Nice shot.

I’m well overdue some Autumn walks in the UK. I was planning to do it this year, but a little medical issue got in the way. Hopefully, next year.

Lovely spot, and a nice shot you’ve taken there. I have a clear memory of visiting Ullswater, nearly forty years ago.

Taken with the FA31/1.8 Limited on my K-1, and cropped in post to provide some visual balance.

Perfect lighting at the time of our visit, and a very photogenic subject.

The Hobart waterfront is a lot more peaceful than when the Customs House was new...

I'm the guy behind the camera, remember? Besides, you'd have thought the K-3 and the FA31 combination would have shown enough detail to be recognised, wouldn't you? I mean, it always works like that in those American police shows, doesn't it? No. Wait. They must use Nikons. :D
