Ah, nice. That was the second lens I bought for my K2DMD, back in 1981. I bought a 40-80 in Singapore on the way over to the UK, and the 24 after I’d returned. I still have the camera and the lenses. I broke out the 40-80 last year, after a long sleep and was delighted with the results on my K-1, while the 24 went into the cabinet after I acquired an FA*24, but I have used it on digital bodies and it’s still a nice lens – it was a revelation when I first put it on my K2DMD, all those years ago, as I found the angle of view so much nicer than a 28 for the work I preferred, and the sharpness and colour were great..

Same here. The shift to LED general area and street lighting has been underway for quite a while. As well as occupying a different part of the visible light spectrum, they’re generally better-directed and more energy efficient, especially when coupled with PIR detection.

The 07 is one lens I avoided for my original Q, mainly because of the unfavourable comparisons made here with the similar Olympus shield lens. It seems you’re going the extra mile that Pentax was reluctant to take with the 07. Best of luck with the project, should you choose to take it up, but be sure to let us know how it goes if you do.

I can relate to your conflict. If you can score another C310 for a similar price, you may feel less conflicted, though, about dismantling one of them. ;)
In any event, how good is the lens? If the camera works, that’s an easy one to check.
The real story, flying underneath the emotion about the C310, is your modification of the Q07 lens. Care to share anything, or have you done so already?

Thank you. I’m baffled that my search didn’t turn that up, but anyway I’m pleased it exists. It’s not a lens that I’d previously given any thought to.

Although there are a few sample photos accompanying the Lens Review entries for this lens, I couldn’t find a Sample Photo thread for it when I searched with the PF engine. If there isn’t one, you two could do worse than starting one to show us just how good it is. The Lens Review samples are interesting, but probably don’t show off its capabilities as well as they could.

If you still have it, you may be able to use your old 27” iMac as a monitor: Use iMac as monitor: 5 Solutions - 9to5Mac
I’ve been considering investing in a new Mac Mini for the same reason as your move to the 16” MacBook Pro, but I’d be hanging on to the old 27” unit as a display, if I can use it.

The only optical design difference I could find is that PF lists 9 elements in 8 groups, whereas ePhotozine lists 9 elements in 9 groups (I can’t find the original manufacturer’s specification and it isn’t listed among Tokina’s current macro lenses). Otherwise, it looks similar optically, although the body except the AF/MF switching is very different, so are they actually the same lens?
I did notice that the Tokina 100/2.8 macro has a very similar specification to the Pentax 100/2.8 WR.

I was wondering about that but without an idea of scale it wasn’t possible to say, definitely.

Very nice finish, and obviously looked after by the previous owner. Their telescopes in the 1970s were of good quality, but those binoculars look as if they were intended for a different market.

Cardboard versus bubblewrap. There’s already too much soft plastic floating around in the world.
On the other hand, I’ve had small goods arrive in a large cardboard box with no padding, and that seems like a waste, too, but we’ve got a council bin for recycling the cardboard, and there isn’t one for soft plastics.

I’ll bet my little DS3 is smaller than your sensible hatchback, and I’ve fitted roof bars to mine to carry things. Obviously, a trailer can handle a greater load, and heavier items will be easier to handle on it, but I’ve just bought a sturdy aluminium roof tray to attach to the roof bars that makes it more flexible. I’ve got a building project on the go, too.
It’s amazing to some folks what you can get by with, if you don’t own an urban assault vehicle. :D

I seem to recall reading, years ago, that the appellation arose from the hand-grenade, rather than the kitchen implement, which makes sense, as the forms are much closer. I had a National flashgun of that style, which I liked partly because the side-mounting gave a better modelling light than the hot-shoe mount variety, but also because it was less inclined to tip the camera forward when carried. I don’t know any current makers who still make those flashguns – the last I knew of was Metz, but they’re gone now.

Neat. I wish they'd been around when I installed 6kW of "conventional" solar PV on my roof, a few years ago.

I use my monopod as a walking pole while hiking in difficult terrain. “Walking stick” tends to have an aged and infirm connotation, at least in this neck of the woods. :D

Mine is looking sideways at my recently-purchased D FA21/2.4 Limited, but it’s too soon to declare for one over the other, and anyway, they’re rather different beasts.

Well done. Curved screen monitors make a great deal of sense when they’re this size, though I can’t really understand the craze for curved screen TVs (unless you only plan to view things without anyone else in the room, naturally).

One of my birthday presents from my lovely wife. I just happened to mention (not actually hinting) that I was thinking about a Pelican-type case for my K-1 gear, and she quietly went out and added it to the pile!

The ISO and aperture rings on my copy are quite stiff to move, so I don’t anticipate a problem with them, if they remain that way. The tiny screwdriver that came with mine did fit the battery compartment screw, and had the bonus of being mildly magnetic.
The only problem associated with the meter is that I’ll have to find a good half-case to fit the camera with it mounted, as the (original) every-ready case I have doesn’t split.
