Unfortunately, the OP found that the thread was so old that he couldn't modify the early messages. Also, unfortunately, this is only knowable by reading the entire thread unless one is lucky at picking a starting point. I think you will find that more recent threads (within this year) include some with updated files.

I am presently, as time allows, delving into the well-written and seemingly exhaustive manual for RT that I found at: http://rawpedia.rawtherapee.com/RawPedia.pdf

I'll save further questions until I'm convinced that they aren't already answered in that volume.

Related to this subject is Ricoh Digital Camera Utility 5 (DCU5) that I originally wanted to use to transform the output files. While I have failed after several attempts to get it to run under Crossover Linux using various Window OS versions and bit options, with and without various Windows "enhancements" such as .net, the "c drive" directory structure is built the same in each instance. Within that structure are two files:
AdobeRCB1998.icc
sRGB Color Space Profile.icm
The first inference of these to me is that all Pentax cameras for which DCU5 is intended have the same profile [Can this be true?]
The second is that these files might be useful with RT

Can any RT guru's shed any light on this topic?

Thanks

Thanks for the clue! (Now I have at least one.) In Mint I have a folder "~/.config/RawTherapee/profiles" that is presently empty but might be where my appimage build expects user supplied files of certain types to be placed. TBD in the fullness of time.

I see no .xml files in the usr/shared area for RT. I haven't found any other locations used by RT other than where I put the appimage executable. Maybe the .xml data is buried in the executable.

Thanks. Are you suggesting above that the subfolder .../share/lensfun is to be created under .../rawtherapee, not just populated with lens data? In my RT 5.4 appimage build no "lensfun" subfolder exists within the usr/share/rawtherapee folder.

I am running RT 5.4 under Mint 17.3 on this particular desktop PC. The dcp camera listing does not include the 645Z. Nonetheless, at the moment, I am happy to have a means to convert PEF to TIF. I believe once I learn more, RT can do other modest PP functions I may need. In any case, I plan to upgrade my various PCs to Mint 19 when I get time. I am curious whether that will improve Darktable functionality also.

As to generating my own dcp profiles, I haven't yet fully grasped what images are needed even for others to do so, much less the dcp file structure and content. Perhaps 645Z profiles are out there somewhere; I have only just started learning this aspect of digital camera operation.

Edit: more information may be found here: http://rawpedia.rawtherapee.com/How_to_create_DCP_color_profiles

To bring my earlier message up to date, I have now caught up with this thread. I haven't installed any profiles yet, but have downloaded three sets to look deeper into. I expect I will be upgrading Mint soon, so maybe the start-up links will be built automatically. This is not a big deal because I can always make my own, stealing an image from RT's data in user/shared if necessary.

Anyway, for jbondo, the links to various profile files that were long ago provided in this thread have been deleted. But going back in recent messages to 1 Jun 2018 will reveal links to recent relevant files that The Squirrel Mafia (TSM) has developed and so graciously provided.

I have observed that the dcp profiles in user/share/rawtherapee do not include the 645Z. Yet the operation of importing a 645Z PEF file and exporting a TIF file seems to work correctly. Perhaps the key to success is that TSM's white balance profile taken from the embedded jpeg is allowing what my earlier testing with Darktable failed to achieve.

In any case, thanks to the RT developers and TSM for all the work making this the first of several PP programs I have tried that has successfully functioned under Linux Mint and done the file conversion. I look forward to becoming familiar with its legion of other capabilities.

Apologies for skipping ahead from page 8 where I am at the moment.

The OP and several messages since then all direct the reader to the OP to obtain relevant Pentax dcp files. None of the colorful headings that I thought might be the link are presently dcp file links. Have these been withdrawn, my observation skills become defunct, or is the intended link broken?

My first goal is find out whether there are profiles suitable for the 645Z. I was able to install RT 4.0.12.0 from my Mint build's Software Manager so I have something to experiment with, but it won't load a 645Z PEF file for testing. It shows the content image, but I suspect that there is a thumbnail jpeg hidden in there somewhere that it is using.

Also of note for the OP, the Raw Therapee site's Downloads page shows no Linux files. There is a build-your-own distribution page elsewhere at the site for those who love compilation. It may be that the OP needs some retuning after all this time.

Edit: The appimage file is apparently the all purpose Linux file. I will try it. My dcp question is still open.
Edit2: Installation worked except that generating the links failed, hanging the process. Otherwise, manual starting works, export from 60 MB PEF to 307 MB TIFF works. The program seems to have access to all of the EXIF file. I have no idea what dcp it is actually using. Actual editing will require significant reading. The rest is only detail. My dcp question is still open.

Thanks
