I agree with you about the "cheapness" of the dressing, one of the big problems is they had no time to spend with me, as they were supposed to have, because they stil had some clients coming for lunch at 3 PM. In fact I just had more or less 1 hour 20 minutes with the 2 cooks in the kitchen to prepare the ten dishes to be pictured, instead of the twelve ones whe where suposed to shoot, and waiting to take a break....
About napkin and accessories: the table looking too empty with too few contasty things, I added them, but without the glasses beeing too problematic to stand in the frame at this angle and having no background to change the angle...plus the short time left for the shoot and the needed time for the problem of glass reflections... As you can see, when we arrived to the desserts, I gave up with them, I played the game on the zen side, wich in this scenario is finaly better.
My set up, transported on my bike, was 3 halogen projectors and tripods, I just used one through an umbrella, some french flags, black callapack, white depron, K1 + my 35 years old Gitzo tripod.
It's also the first time I made a real use of the pixel shift function and enjoyed it during digital treatment.
It was my first try in food photography and enjoyed some aspects of it such as the lightning and the few exanges with the cooks but not the setting itself as I finaly discovered things on the set. We should do some new pictures for the restaurant this summer and I should think about taking a few accessories of my own .
