Interesting thread. I'm new to the F1m2 but am a long-time Canon still and video shooter. So here are some comments:
- I don't think you can discuss AF at the level of a brand. Individual bodies, lenses, and combinations matter a great deal.
- My impression is that my 1Dx, with a fast lens (supporting more accurate AF and more cross-type points) will outperform an F1m2 for keepers at the same frame rate and match it at 10fps. The non-1series stills bodies I've owned are not nearly as good
- the best approach I've found is to take stills from a DCI4K60P raw video (C200). These are essentially 100% keepers at 60fps and one gets both face and object tracking. I'd make that claim for most current EF lenses faster than 5.6 and both AF cine-zooms. These are 10bit raw files, one could get 12bit at 24 or 30 fps.
- the technical support info from ricoh is essentially absent compared to the detailed analysis and whitepapers provided by Canon. This matters because the specifics of the setup will change the outcomes.
