Well my father and my uncle were both into photography. My father gave me his Speed Graphic 4x5 and a Voightlander Bergheil 2 1/4 x 3 1/4, and my uncle gave me his Exakta. I sold the Voightlander but still have the Exakta and Speed Graphic. They also taught me b&w film processing and printing. Also, my aunt (father's sister) was a medical photographer in NYC and later gave me her cameras, a Pentax H1a and a Nikon F. The Nikon F had the early Photomic finder and a 58mm f/1.4, 55mm f/3.5 Micro and the 105mm f/2.5. I sold the Nikon but still have the Pentax.

Back in those days there was no internet or eBay. You found used cameras at local camera shops, flea markets or in the news paper ads. Then Shutterbug Ads came out and I would search there. Shutterbug Ads was a yellow b&w newspaper rag when it first appeared.

Nothing special about this photo... I came across a roll of exposed 120 Panatomic-X in my freezer and I knew it was very old. Can't remember the last time I shot Pan-X. So I developed it in Microdol-X and scanned some of the pics... it looked like 8 or 9 shot were of the same subject. I must have been testing something. Internesting...I took a picture of a calendar so I can data the roll from spring 1983. So the film was exposed 38 years ago. The picture was of my Pentax MX and I think, at the time, I owned an MX with a 50mm f/2, a Vivitar 28mm and a Spiratone 400/6.3. Also in the picture is my Exakta V with a Meyer Gorlitz 58/1.9 and a Kodak folder. Based on the date and the film format, the camera I was shooting with was a Yashicamat 124G, which was my first medium format camera.

Looks like a Ginko tree. We have allot of them in a park near my house. They produce a fruit that as it rots, smell awful.

Nothing special here...a few shots with an Exakta VX and Zeiss Jena Biotar 58mm f/2.0 and one with the Steinheil 200mm f/4.5 Preset. I was just testing the shutter with these shots.
