I don’t know how to post YouTube links but the Disturbed cover of Sounds of Silence is awesome. I listen to music in the car occasionally but usually NPR news shows. At home I’m more likely to playing along to a jam track or using my Trio+ band creator if not playing Borderlands 3.
I might like music at work if it the classic radio station had a more expansive play list. I could dig some Sixties hippie rock, Cream, Hendrix, The Doors, etc which is now called oldies rock, I think. But Aerosmith, Journey, AC/DC are repeatedly on an endless loop.
But it’s actually gotten worse. Handsome Doug has found a soft rock / pop classic radio station. He likes to sing along to Karen Carpenter, ABBA, Olivia Elton John, Linda Ronstadt and the Captain and Tenille.
I might dig an all Blue Oyster Cult station, though if it excluded Godzilla, Don’t Fear the Reaper and Burning For You. You know, their most successful hits,
“Raise your can of beer on high and seal your fate forever. Our best years have passed us by, the Golden Age of Leather.”

I’m listening to NOTHING! And I LIKE IT!
I like to work in near silence these days. My least favorite coworker is on vacation and it is peaceful in the office for a change. His desk is right outside my office. When here he listens to Classic Rock Radio and gradually increases the volume until it’s distracting. If he doesn’t reach that threshold soon enough, he starts singing along out of tune and out of time until I ask him to please stop it!!!
I used to like classic rock. I play guitar. I’m almost 70 years old. I used to play most of those songs before they became “classic.” But now I literally prefer the sounds of silence.

At this very moment? Sam the Sham and the Pharohs Wooly Bully.
My coworker listens to a classic rock station but he waits until Molly in accounting leaves at 2:00 PM to turn it up. She and I do work that requires more focus so we’d rather work in near silence. She has threatened to punch him in the throat with a pencil on occasion and I probably wouldn’t stop her.
I consider Wooly Bully to be an Oldie so it was kind of refreshing compared to the endless recycling of the same two dozen songs the last 3 hours of the day. And I used to like classic rock. Heck, I’ve played most of the songs in the rotation.
But I could kick off the day with some Blue Oyster Cult like Transmaniacon MC To get rolling then Harvester of Eyes when coasting out at 4:55.
