Yeah, it can be a bit finicky to focus with the f2.
Thanks for the input!

Ah alright.
Are you not able to shoot wide open in Av with larger aperture lenses? My f2 seems to work fine in TAv.

Yeah, I better not try and 'fix' it, I'd just end up breaking it somehow! :)
Thanks for all the info on CIF!

Oh ok.
It seems to be working how it should, but I'll look into that.
Thanks!

I didn't quite giggle, but it definitely put a smile on my face.
Oh nice!
Yeah, modern lenses are a bit too expensive for me. Keeping the cost low makes it more fun, less constant worrying for losing thousands of dollars!
The CIF option was on page C4 in the menu. Just had to turn that option on and go into AF.S mode.

I remember reading about it somewhere in the manual. I'll have to look it up!
Thanks for all the info!
And yeah, that's one of the reasons I went for Pentax. IBIS, weather sealing, and great support for legacy lenses, all for a great price!
Those are some great photos! I'll have to set it up and go test it out.

I know what it is, but I haven't fiddled with it yet.
How should I enable and use it? ---------- Post added 08-27-18 at 09:54 AM ----------
Thanks for all the input!
I had gotten a K1000 SE with 5 lenses. 2 of the 50mm f2, a Ricoh 35mm f2.8, an Albinar 75-300mm f5.6, and a Sears 80-200mm f4.
And my friend gifted me a great 28-70 f3.8-4.8 that's been a lot of fun.
I got pretty lucky with all these lenses, I think! I'd like to get a sub-28mm lens sometime for some wide angle stuff, one of those f1.4 or f1.2 50mm lenses, and something to bridge the gap between my telephoto lenses and walk-around.
Thanks!

Alright, I'll consider it.
I can understand the manual, I just have to read a bit slower ;)
I'll look into the catch in focus feature!
Thanks!

Yeah, I hadn't heard of it before either, but I've had a lot of fun with it! It was a gift from a friend, so I try to use it a lot :)
Ah ok, interesting! I'll have to keep my eyes open for one.
All the lenses I have are manuals I've used with my K1000.

No, there's an "AP" on the aperture ring.
The lens is a Magnicon XC 28-70mm 1:3.8-4.8. It's my favorite lens to use.
Thanks for clarifying the "A" type lenses more, though!

Yeah, maybe I should wait until monday ;)
Oh ok. I think I'm good for now, but I'll keep the Ebook in mind!
Funnily enough, the camera came with the Magnifier Eyecup! I'll have to use it :)

Yeah, I got a 64GB SD card, so I've got a lot of photos I can take!
Good idea with the notes. I'll write them down on my phone when I come across them! ---------- Post added 08-11-18 at 02:11 PM ----------
Yeah, I'd love to have split-screen focusing on the K-5. But it's alright without it. There's a button on the back that has "LV" printed on it. That's the live view button. I've noticed it's great for shots where you don't want to press your face down against the ground :)
And yeah, the whole point of getting a DSLR was to have fun with it! I sure have been so far.

Yeah, I'm very glad I got it! I've been having a lot of fun shooting some macro-ish shots.
Alright, I'll look through those once I have more time. Thanks!

Alright!
One of my lenses has Aperture Priority mode. Would that be an A-series lens, or is it something different?
And yeah, I'll have to see how much each lens might be off.
Thanks!

Hello!
My K-5 came early! It was estimated to come Monday, but came Saturday!
The battery is charging while I write this, I got it out of the box a little bit ago.
Anywho, does anyone have any good tips and suggestions for using this camera with manual lenses? Or just any tips in general.
I have the manual, which I plan to read through, but it's going to take a bit...
