The K-S2 is much maligned, but it's weight and ease of use, coupled with an excellent 20mp processor , moveable screen, wifi, etc. makes it current today and it makes my DA glass pop

Wed7:
I had a K-50 (similar to the K-30) which I loved and never thought of as a "beginner" camera as I was able to take excellent low level shots with it....and as I have stated previously (and obviously), the equipment does not make the photographer, the skills and/or thought process is more important than the equipment per se. My K-1, other than the focal point and some added detail in larger croppings, is simply a continuation of the quality Pentax has been producing for years. But I am surprised at the K-S2's reception by Pentaxians...It's really quite good with a quality lens attached (the 18-50mm WR RE doesn't do it justice). Attached is a recent beauty

Here's an example from a dimly lit bar and a close up of the top shelf--only slightly cropped. ---------- Post added 11-16-18 at 12:44 AM ---------- See the EXIF data. This was taken at 3200 ISO at 1/25 speed. Hand-held there is some noise and grain but overall the WB is good and the color palette is realistic. The K-S2 has amazing IQ and holds up well for a mid-range camera. Its small size makes it convenient to tote around, though the 18-50 collapsable lens is not up to Pentax quality. it feels cheap and to me is useless for the image quality I seek. On the other hand, my 18-135mm (a copy of which I've had since 2012) is a well-built workhorse and produces great images with the K-S2. The larger pixel size of the 20mp v. 24 mp on the APS-c sensor gives this camera a low-light boost.
Great compliment to my K-1
