Steve:

Thank you so much for that. yes, just past the bayonet on the clasp is a 'longer' plastic wedge. I'll try and trim it. It was an amazing buy...no haze, clean glass and no discernible damage to the body. For $10.00 if I can make it work I'll control the aperture and manual focus on the lens, letting the K-1 do its magic on shutter priority...

Was rummaging through an old Lens Bin at my local Camera shop and stumbled across a Chinon 30-80mm lens marked P/K....It looked like a Pentax mount and when placed on any of my camera bodies slots properly at the red dot, but does not turn to lock. I held it on the camera and it takes great pictures, but does anyone know whether I need a adapter for this lens as it is manual and has a taller thread where the insert tab is and ir won't turn.

I thought almost all old P/K glass retrofits. Obviously that is wrong, but if anyone has any idea, I would appreciate it as having a mid-tele on my K-1 would really help my kit (did I mention it was only $10 with a Hoya UV filter?)

I bought my K-1 on line from Roberts as Philadelphia (Center City) has no Pentax dealer, so I sometimes purchase stuff online only from American dealers with 100% ratings and I've had no issues. Anyway, have fun shooting.

Girgarath: go to an authorized site like Adorama or B & H and you will receive OEM parts/chargers.

Walter:
I bought the Sensor cleaning kit from RICOH/Pentax (about $55) and used it on my filthy Leica TL APS-c sensor. It worked perfectly, though it is not for the faint of heart, and the sticky silicone wand should not be forced or dragged: I gently pulled straight up and that worked.

The Pentax AUTO 110 was a 4/3rds, but as a DSLR type that shot 110 film, it was a 4/3rds...Micro 4/3rds is reserved for mirrorless cameras....thanks for the amendment

I did it for size and access to concerts, sporting events, etc...Example: the Belmont (Triple Crown), NCAA, etc. $/3rds and smaller cameras are usually ok to tote. Otherwise with all the Pentaxes and Leicas I have, I wouldn't need a 4/3rds.

Professional type cameras with interchangeable lenses are disallowed.

Yes Pentax had the "Q" series cameras for about a decade. They were quite popular but eventually were not supported.

Because Pentax no longer supports 4/3rds cameras, I had to look elsewhere. I found the Olympus OM-D 10 Mark III with M. Zuiko 12-42mm and 40-150mm lenses (24-300mm aggregate coverage)....complete for less than $600.00. Just wish it was water resistant like my Pentaxes.....

Leica D-Lux (typ 109) froze at the recent Peach Music Fest (Montage Mtn., PA), and needed a 4/3'rds replacement. I bought the Olympus OM-D MK III and am pleased, but it did. not have the (subjective) renditioning of the Leica, So, I did what any camera junkie would do: bought a new D-Lux 7 from Adorama and now I'm really top heavy in camera bodies....maybe my next acquisition should be therapy for this addiction.....

I don't like them either. My largest APS-c lens is 300mm (450mm effectively) and my largest FF lens is also 300mm. I rarely, if ever need to go beyond that focal length so I dislike tripods also. I have a manfrotto that converts to a unipod that I use with my K-1 occasionally, but I'm a hand-held guy like you. sometimes, I notice that the K-1 White Balance is 'warm' and I just post process it by reducing it at the PP stage.

Still very nice photos...

I really respect individuals who use the Medium Format cameras in the field...did you use a tri-pod for that big boy or did you hand hold. The images at JPEG 85 quality are quite sharp, though a bit "warm" in texture....very nice.

Replaced Leica 50mm Summarit lens hood cap ($40.00 piece of plastic at B&H); Promaster 7450 Tripod, I picked up virtually new in box on eBay for $22 (which made me feel better about the Leica replacement cap--law of averages and all that); steal of the years in getting a Pentax 55-300mm lens for $89 new from someone liquidating their Pentax stash on eBay.....all in all not a bad haul....

Manfrotto Amica 20D Camera Kit Bag...excellent quality for the small camera (my travel bag for the KP). Sometimes I'll bring the 18-135 zoom, with the 40mm pancake and 70mm Limited for prime use....Great deal at Adorama ($9.00--regularly $40). Received it today.

For this crowd, I'd recommend a Balvenie 12 year Double Wood.

Just bought a few UV/IR Cut filters as they are becoming scarce for my wonderful Leica M8.2. As many of you know, it was one of the first digital cameras to have no AA filter and while that made the 10.3 CCD (Kodak) Sensor hum, it also had a delitrious effect on certain blacks and green due to excessive IR. I bought 39mm, 43mm, & 46mm. I'm still looking for a rare 40.5 UV/IR Cut as I need it for my old Minolta Rokkor/Leitz 90mm. Curiously, the M8/8.2 has an APS-h (1.3x) sensor, but I really don't mind the differential as there are no Leica zooms and RF telephotos of more than 100mm often require a attachment for the RF to gain focus. So the 90 acts like a 120mm & for street photography, it's more than enough.

If any of you come across UV/IR Cut Filters in your travels, please let me know. Cheers.

yes--he is a Salmon distributor--an odd profession for a rock singer, yet Ian has always been eclectic. I've had the good fortune of meeting him several times and actually been to a few dozen of his shows (most recent was 3 weeks ago at the Ocean Resort in Atlantic City, NJ)....a most interesting and cheeky fellow I might add.

KerrowDown: the kit looks great now, but I wish you would have quoted a famous Scot (Ian Anderson) by stating you've been "Thick as a Brick" in resolving the issue. Jethro Tull would have enjoyed the prop up....

Welcome to Planet Pentax....You certainly started off with a big splash...Down the road look into the APS-c bodies/lenses too. No one does ergonomics like Pentax on APS-c and I wouldn't be surprised that you pick up a more compact body down the road. Enjoy your new K-1ii, the Flagship of the fleet !!!

Had previously sold my K-1 Mark II and 28-105mm kit lens (didn't like the way accelerator changed photos). Missed FF, bought a K-1 Demo (low shutter count) w/SIGMA 24-70mm. Felt the extra 35mm focal length of the Pentax kit lens was beneficial and bought a new one to replace the one I had previously owned.
This kit lens, along with the 18-135mm APS-c zoom lens are definitely 2 of the best Pentax lens of this type made for its digital line.
