A little Soviet pancake has just arrived: it's small, it's "silver", it's cheap and it works.
M39=>M42=>K
Doesn't beat the Helios in IQ or character in any way, but for $15, why not?

It's the hunt, literally, trying to find the situation where these lens perform well. But then again, I don't mind the hustle.
I'm truly pleased with these, this, in singular, but of course I can't comment on the general quality, I might have just been lucky.
Since I'm not a professional photographer, I can afford to discard bad batches. That's why I shoot my sub f3 lenses wide open.

Two new babies: Jupiter 37AM 135mm f3.5 and Asahi Pentax Takumar (Bayonet) 135mm f2.5.
I'm pleased by both: the Soviet one has a serious dust problem, but it doesn't affect image quality (no fungus). Well built and tiny. I won't disassemble it to clean the dust out, it's Soviet, it should handle it. $40.
The budget Pentax lens are a pleasant surprise: for $40 it's in an excellent condition, very early serial number, made in Japan. No SMC but it's metal and glass, and I'm used to shooting a 50mm M 1.4 wide open, so the results are above expectation. CA is a problem but you can avoid it if you're creative enough.

Just got a Tair 300mm Soviet Tank.
Mostly for astrophotography. The whole package is impressive, very very well built in a Russian way.
I wounder how it will do once my O-GPS1 arrives, until then it should get enough light with a 3X tele converter to resolve Saturn (300 x 1.5 for APS-C x 3 = 1350 mm).
