I just saw this on a talk show, so I google and found the video clip on Twitter.

 Initially, it was funny to see but after see it a few more time, I don't really know what to think now.
What exactly are they trying to get from using a flamethrower like that!
They even use it indoor. Amazingly, it didn't trigger the sprinkler / fire alarm.

Focus issues: solutions?

I would make sure to use fast enough shutter speed and try auto focus on Live view.
or
Use Live view to maximize the view to 100% and manual focus. You pretty much have to pre-focus and wait for this one + use fast enough shutter speed.

I have been using the 2 methods with good success in dark alley at night (K3 classic), but people won't walk as fast as kids running.

Tokyo will go back to quasi-emergency from Friday which mean businesses will be asked to close early but no effect on general public activity. The city got 5,185 cases on Tuesday which is a jump from around 30 just a month ago.

IMO, the number of COVID-19 patients in hospital should be taken into account since Omicron doesn't send people to hospital as much as the earlier variants but it is spreading a lot faster.

From the graph above, well... number from the US always on steroid in every category.
I wish they make it by percentage of available bed in each country. Anyway, for Japan, late August to early September last year was the time we had shortage of hospital beds. Now we are still far from the peak in September, but it's slowly picking up. Not sure if it is a good news or bad news.

IMHO, it sounds like it has to do with people's "ego" more than the use of technology and photography to me.
Some people know enough about a topic to think they know more than most people, but when someone come up with a question on the topic, their ego shifted the focus from the subject of conversations to his/herself. (it might sound like you offend them when you just offer what you know and have no intention of offending them whatsoever.)
There are a lot of people with huge ego like that on internet and pretty much in any professional, photography included.
I would just ignore it.

Thanks you all.
I will keep an eye on the aperture lever of the 21. As of now, it doesn't exhibit such issue in normal room tempter.
My prime suspect is the moisture as @UncleVanya said. I hope it will be just the moisture thing.

Another option is reset your phone to a factory setting. As you know, sometime things get messy after using electronic device for years and years. Factory reset could clear a lot of issues but it could be a hassle thing to do too! Just make sure you back up your setting and file first.

I think, if it blackout here, something must be seriously wrong and I would have more thing to worry than go take a photo.
The last time we had blackout here was the 2011 earthquake, tsunami and follow with the meltdown of nuclear power plant a few minutes drive north of Tokyo.
However if we ever have a widespread blackout again and assume that I had a mood to take a photo, I will try to go get a shot of Milky Way with Tokyo's skyscrapers in the foreground. Might be a good idea for anyone live in or near a big city during blackout. Postprocess later when the power come back on. Last time I was afraid of the radiation wind from the power plant so I didn't try to go out as much.

I am wondering if any one have a similar problem.
My K3 classic showed (a kind of) mirror lock up symptom while shooing in the snowing nights.
Here are what I can recall:
  • It only happens the second time, and both times it was snowing. 0 °C or lower. I never have this issue in another cold nights but not cold enough to snow.

  • It was only when I use with the DA21 (small / pancake lenses). There were no such problems when I switch to a lager lenses like DA*55 and DA10-17. Upon switched back to DA21 and here again the issue come back.

  • It was only in the first couple of shots when I just change the lens, and when the camera was just wake up from a sleep.

  • If I turn off and on the camera, the mirror will go back to work normal and it won't come back until the next time I change lens or after it just wake up. Therefore I don't think it is the same Mirror lockup as the issue people have with earlier K3 unit because I don't have to remove the battery to reset the mirror.

  • The battery was not at 100% full when it happened. No such problem when I just start shooting (fully charged battery).

Android? It sounds like your phone try to auto connect to the Wi-Fi you often use.
There is a Wi-Fi set up in your phone when you slide from the top down, you will see wifi icon.
When you go in there, it will show you lists of available Wi-Fi. Select the Theta's Wi-Fi and select "Advance" then make sure "Auto-connect" is On.
Not sure if it can help but it is worth trying.

I remember having the same problem but not remember what I exactly did to make it works!
I don't think I unregister the camera from the old phone.
I remember to register the camera to the new phone by turn on the camera first, then make sure the phone Wi-Fi is connected to the camera.
Next open the app on the phone. Then the app asked me to register the camera to the phone. I used the numbers at the bottom of the camera to register and use the default password.
I will come back if I happen to remember exactly what did I do. Usually I make note for every problem I ran to, but the problem is...I don't know where is my note! :hmm:

As for now, DeltaCron looks like a lab's error or sample's contamination.
A doctor has a sum up on YouTube below. It's not only his opinion but also handful of another doctor and researcher.
But again, nothing can be said it is a 100% sure. We will just have to wait and see a confirmation from laps around the world.

K-3 III fixed screen

Agree, beside having a camera above the head and pointing it down, I would add the composing image on a real low angle too.
When shoot very low like a camera is only a few cm above ground or touch the ground, we will usually tilt the lens upward and here we go, we can see the problem of fix screen right away. Not only that, it doesn't matter how large the LCD, either. The higher/lower you go + the more you tilt = the less you can see. It is not a difficulty of lazy people don't want to bend their body, it is more on the tool's limitation which affect some creativity of the users. It can be hard to explain to those who had never tried it for real.

---------- Post added 01-08-22 at 09:35 PM ----------

I am doing the same whenever I use a view finder! It's interesting to know another people doing it too. :)
2 eyes open, some time left eye on the view finder, some time right eye on the view finder depending on the direction of the main object in front.
In fact, I don't buy the 3mm for nose space and slimmer looking body either. IMO, those who want a slim body already move on to a Mirrorless body long ago. K3III is only like what? 2mm or something slimmer than a KP? I don't think 2-3 mm can win a new user looking for a slimmer body. It is more likely to win the money of the already Pentax users who don't mind to pay for it. Yes, Pentax camera is well know for a well built in a compact package, but those new user who want a real slim body unlikely to look at a DSLR in the first place regardless of brand.

Beside difficulty on aging, the laying down on the floor argument doesn't hold much water for my gene of photography as well.
Try to lay down on a busy street in big cities is just not a practical thing to do or even think about it. I would love to see people try that for real in a big city's busy street and sidewalk, especially on a raining night :D They will be lucky if someone stepping on their head, less lucky getting a bicycle run over or worse a car. And that couldn't even fix the difficulty on the extreme high angle. Perhaps we have to just jump high enough? A simple tilt screen is the way to go, less chucky. Don't use it don't flip it out, but it is there when you need it.

Doing night street photo often myself, it is particularly a very good thing to have for night street photo. Many times, it is just impossible to do an extreme angle without a tilt screen because you don't have a luxury of time and more often the space on actual street. IMO, whoever behind the decision doesn't seem to care much about this gene until one day they care, which is very much like their views on FF DSLR back before the K1 days.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Well, they will do what they want to do. It has always been this way. Better get used to or use the older camera with such screen or else, and I am seriously considering my own advice too.

Clean up yesterday and found this handout from a Covid's vaccine center I got on the vaccination day.
Since the first day I arrive here, it was easy to notice Japan always has interesting and cute illustrators for just about everything.

It basically tells, what to do and what not to do before and after receiving the vaccine + contact information in case we need help.

note: the cycle mark, "O" has a similar meaning to a checkmark. and Red color doesn't always mean bad or no here. Many times it means the opposite of Bad / No BUT sometimes it means Bad / No too. Anyway, the red cycle mark seen on the second image means OK while the X mark in blue means NO.
And one big difference (IMO) here Vs the news I saw from the west is on the first page where there is a woman wearing a mask in the center of a green cycle with 3 smaller heads on her left and watching hands on her right. That is what to do even after receiving the 2 doses of Vaccine. This message has been clear since day one. People should keep wearing masks and watching hands to protect the community even after vaccinated.

It seems like large group of people in some countries concern more about their tribal's believe than actual fact anyway.
Besides that, I don't think it's fair to blame medias alone when most country have rules and regulations to deal with unethical practices by News media. The same laws applied to the tradition News medias doesn't apply to a post on social medias, so there is no fact check, and this people suffer next to no consequences on their misinformation, including the social medias hosting it.
But at the same time those blaming traditional News media have no problem believe in whatever an unknown person on internet said. Start from, the virus wasn't real, and slowly change the argument to something else when more and more people sick and die, right? We have no way to know who is the person or people behind the keyboard on the social media. It could be a group, a country trying to mobilize division in another countries for a political gain while the traditional News media, we know where their office, who they are, who write the article, who can be be held accountable.

Well, anyway, I think I am lucky that I am not currently in a country with so many divisions and groups trying to pull one another legs in time like this. This is the time to help one another and help the country as a whole. Individualism in time like this is more or less a selfish act to me. I can't say the same back at home though!

Anyway, Happy New Year. Hope we all have a better and healthier year in 2022.

Agree, I guess for those ever had a hand on any one of the 3 sibling would agree with this.
In fact I am looking at F50 macro on the secondhand market here in Japan. It is a beautiful looking lens :o .

Data refer toPentax K Lens Tests

---------- Resolution chart: ----------
I think FA50 and F50 f2.8 macro would have the same or very similar performance to the D-FA50 macro chart below

---------- Chromatic Aberrations (CAs) ----------

DFA, FA, F 50mm f/2.8 macro

DA* 55mm f/1.4

FA 31mm f/1.8

FA 43mm f/1.9

FA 35mm f/2

The sharpest normal FA I have ever used or test is FA50 f2.8 macro and it is not on your list!
F50 and DFA 50 f2.8 marcro said to have the same optic with similar sharpness.
If any of them is a WR lens, I would drop my DA*55 in a heartbeat.

Last week it was a local Omicron case from a person just came back from the US a day earlier. She went out to a soccer game at a stadium near my place and found out a day after the game that she has Omicron. So approx. 80 people close to her while she was in the stadium have to be isolated.
IMO, the health authority here has always doing weird things since the beginning. Now they close the country for foreign traveler over the fear of Omicron, and "ask" those who can come back to quarantine themselves at home for a week, but "no tracking"!
Earlier in the pandemic they close country's for all foreigner regardless, which mean if your spouses are Japanese and even if you have the right visa + re-entry permit, you will be refused re-entry, but for the citizen who can enter the country, they were "asked" to quarantine themselves at home and "no tracking". Then many country protest these strange rules, so they reopen the country for all and did the same, "ask" people to quarantine themselves at home or hotel and "no tracking".
We're lucky, having very few daily cases as it is now. I guess the big part of that might be the majority of people here has no problem wearing facemask when ever we step out, well public sanitizing, and very few + very quiet anti-vax.
But with Omicron and this kind of strange practice, who know? By next month, we might go back to 10 thousands cases a day again. Fingers Crossed it won't be.

It is an advertising panel which rotate ads every few minutes. A lot of them are 3D looksing ads.

As for the cat part, I guess the sole purpose of the cat is for cuteness which is very common here
Japanese upset with anything and everything cute! The cat will walk, sit and sometime just looking around at people on the street. It has a very awkward and funny meow too.
