That's a great sign. Where is it? It brings to mind a sign we used to see on the Thredbo to Khancoban road near Dead Horse Gap: "Steep, narrow, windy, slippery, dirt road for 44km". Of course, I never thought to take a photo. I believe the road has been paved. Vandals.

This brings back a lot of memories for me, too. I got married in Edinburgh Castle on 4 July 1970 in the little chapel right at the top; St. Margaret's Chapel, built in the 12th century. It's fun getting married in a chapel that's at least 800 years old. Minor drama trying to extract the best man from Mons Meg. After the wedding, we processed down to the officers' mess behind a piper. It was a warm, sunny day and the route was thronged with tourists with their cameras. I was a nervous 21-year-old, rather shy, and I didn't quite know what to make of it. She gave me a nudge and said that we should pretend that we were royalty, smile at the tourists and give them an occasional royal wave. It was huge fun. I think we gave a good show because I heard comments from the crowd when people recognised us as Scandinavian royalty marrying Scottish nobility. We were the best entertainment on the day.
We were able to use the castle because her father was the provost marshal (Lt Col) for Scotland and had his office in the castle. Driving through the gates in a VW Beatle with cans tied on the back was entertaining too. We had great fun with the squaddies on the gate.
