There weren't many Ferraris and most of them were parked in terrible places for photgraphy.

I'll take a flash with me next year.

I've been dormant for a while and I've just noticed that other people are posting slightly larger images these days. I'll give it a try,

Some American Classics in Part 2, starting with three Firebirds.

Trans Am I'm guessing 1977 or 1978

1973 Formula 400 One of my co workers at Burroughs in Detroit bought one of these new with 4-speed manual and the ride and handling package. Very nice car. This one's had a bit of money spent on it including a "Ram Air" hood with all the associated carb intake modifications. It was imported from the USA a few years ago.

1971 Base Model?
I can't pick this one. And I have difficulties taking shots of shiny white cars in bright sunlight

Some older cars. A Rambler Classic

DeSoto Fireflite 1959?

Multiple spotlights on your Mini was all the rage in the late 60s and early 70s. Racing numbers on the side was taking it to the next level.

Gilberts is a small garage in Maitland, NSW, Australia that specialises in servicing and repairing European vehicles. They host an annual cars & coffee morning. It's not a formal car show. Many of the cars were parked in the road under trees.

I'm still getting used to my new D FA 28-105mm lens, but so far I'm very happy with it. I need to spend more time working out aperture and depth of field, as you will be able to see with the following

Some old British cars to start with.

Split-screen Morris Minor

Later model Morris Minor The wheels and tyres are not standard

Early Mini with a bit or rust around the body seams. I say 'early' because it has sliding windows. My 1970 mini had wind-up windows.

This car has a few extras to adapt to Australia. If you didn't have 'egg nishning', you needed to do something. The sun shade at the top of the windscreen was very popular in the 1960s and early 1970s. It may be difficult to spot, but there's a perspex wind deflector fitted to the driver's door window. The other accessory is the bull bar. Not exactly heavy duty :) but it's contemporary.

More modern (1970s) Cooper S with minilight wheels. The genuine Minilights were very strong.

A Noddy Car

That's it for now.

There's an age limit. It varies by state, but it's 30 years old for Victoria. There are other exceptions e.g. people on holidays.

Regards,
Richard.

That's what I was going to say :D Topolinos were a predecessor of the Cinquecento (500). The Seicento (600) came before the 500, I think. Topolinos were made from before the second World War. The 500 and 600 were made from the mid 1950s. When we used to travel through Italy (my first wife had an Italian Mother) in the 1960s, 500s and 600s were everywhere.

The old-car-guy up the road used to have an early Topolino in his garage a couple of years ago. I don't think he's finished the restoration yet. I must get some shots.

I notice you've got the flags out. Do you need a pilot/escort for the over-width load?

Ooo. Heavy duty. We call that tractor/prime mover a "tri-drive". Do you use the same term?

Australian-made Kenworths are different from yours.

It's not a train, but it runs on rails. It travels in the streets, but it's not a bus. We should be getting some new trams soon, made by Bombardier. Looks like the state government did a deal to make them here :D

I've only met double cattle and sheep road trains and on made roads, not dirt, but I often drive with the sun roof open. I've never been hit when one lets loose, but it's been close.

Oh wow! It's not even as substantial  as a Smart car. I think the driver might get a little nervous. I like to imagine them, oblivious to reality, trying to pass one of these bad boys (not my photo) doing 100km/h on a dirt road. Sensible people driving big 4 wheel drives like Land Cruisers pull over to the side of the road and let them pass. They're OK to pass on made roads, but on dirt ... forget it :D

This one is three double-deck cattle trailers and they stink.

A boat. This is a 29er, a smaller version of the 49er designed for younger people who might want to progress on to the 49er.

It has a crew of 2 and 2 young guys (14 or 15?) wheeled it on to the grass in front of the club to rig it. Two young girls wandered over to help. Then two more young guys. Then two more young girls...

It took an amazingly long time to rig

Great shots. Beautiful looking car. It could be a pig of a car to drive, but that's not what counts. :D

One of the guys I worked with in Detroit in 1973 had a 1968 Camaro Convertible - bright red - 'go fast' stripes - side pipes - huge, fat wheels - unassisted steering ...

Some shots from a short walk. There's something about utes that appeals to some Aussie sheilas.

Typical girlie car :D;)

It was parked outside the house where I took some shots of the owner's white and pink ute (with hot pink accessories).

This is a blokes car (well, it's owned by a bloke) It looks like it's a late 1960s AMC Javelin. It's got Rambler badges. It could be one of the ones built in Oz from imported parts or maybe Canadian?

Late evening at Changi Airport on Tuesday 2012-02-28.

There have been some changes since I first landed here as a 10-year-old in 1959. The RAF base has become a major airport and the planes have become a bit bigger (Comet 4B to A380)
