I haven't used the K200D in a long time, so I'll share some spring sun on flowers in the back yard. ISO320 on the grape hyacinth and daffodil, ISO100 on the tiny buttercup, f5.6 or f8.

Enjoying a delightful spring afternoon in my back yard, and having fun with my old Super-Macro-Takumar 50mm f4 lens mounted on a Pentax K200D. The violets are dominating the back yard, but a spider is dominating the buttercup..

Here is another photograph taken with my Tele-Takumar 300mm f6.3 @ f22 on a 2x teleconverter, stacked with several filters to attenuate the sun: two 4x ND, one 2x ND, one circular polarizer, one linear polarizer, mounted on a K5 on a tripod, 1/8000 sec, ISO80, daylight white balance. A small cloud was approaching the sun, so I quickly positioned myself to take some photographs during its passage, and here is one of the shots. It gives it a dirty, eerie appearance.

Getting ready to take some photos of the eclipse. I'm NOT traveling anywhere, but just going into my yard at my house here in Rolla. The effect will be plenty good here to enjoy it. Here is my first test shot - Pentax K5, Tele-Takumar 300mm f6.3 lens, stacked on a 2x teleconverter for 600mm, lens stopped down to f22, with a stack of filters fitted to the front: two 4x ND, one 2x ND, one circular polarizer, one linear polarizer. This is just what I had, and it works! ISO80, 1/8000 sec., handheld. Notice the sun spots clearly visible across the face of the sun.

UPDATE: Lesson learned - CHECK YOUR SENSOR! The "sunspot" in the lower-right quadrant is a dust particle on my sensor. After cleaning my sensor, it's all good now. Here is a new image with a clean sensor, this time in color (daylight white balance).

I have not used my Super-Takumar 35mm f3.5 in a long time, so I put on on the K5 this afternoon and snapped a few in the back yard. It does bokeh better than I remembered it would... Both are shot with it wide open at f3.5, ISO125, and cropped. This is a really sharp lens!

Moon shot... Just testing the Tele-Takumar 300mm f6.3 - not sure of the aperture setting, but might be wide open. Taken with Pentax K100DS, ISO1600, handheld.

There was not much color in the original, so it begged for a monochrome conversion...

Hello,

I've seen a few references in various places that someone has converted a Super-Takumar (or variant) 55mm f2 to 55mm f1.8 by removing the aperture restriction. Have any of you done this, or know where I can find instructions about how to do it?

I had my S-T 55mm f2 partially disassembled to clean a hazy element (success!), but did not see where the restriction might be.

Meanwhile, here is a shot from this afternoon of a crocus with an accomodating fly (SMC-Takumar 55mm f1.8 @ f5.6, K100DS, ISO200).

It was a nice afternoon - finally some good weather to get outdoors. Here is one I liked in the late-afternoon lighting:

In spite of the heavy winter we've been having this year, most of the snow melted today in the bright sun, and I found this crocus coming up in the back yard.

I got the lens and it's pristine, and works great! I have not done a comparison between it (SMC Tak 55 f1.8) and my S-T 55 f1.8, but am curious if there are any noticeable performance differences.

Here are a couple of first pictures:

Portulaca flower: K100DS, ISO200, SMC Takumar 55mm f1.8 @ f4 minimum focus distance

My portable low-power ham-radio station: K100DS, ISO400, SMC Takumar 55mm f1.8 @ f1.8

I'm very happy with this deal!

I was taking a few minutes break and browsed the auction site for Pentax lenses, and came across this SMC Takumar 55mm f1.8 lens + caps + UV filter + leather case + shipping for $15 total. Now tell me, how could I NOT pull the trigger on this one! I don't need another 50mm-class lens, but this was too good to pass up! LBA??? :o Note to self: "Quit browsing for lenses!"
