I also have a black MX with M 40mm f2.8, and it's a sweet little operator!

Well, it happened again...

This time I was browsing the 'bay for a cheap Super-Takumar 55mm f2 to pair with one of my un-lensed Spotmatic bodies, with the intention of reselling the kit (I figured it would sell better with a lens).

I came across this H1a and S-T 55mm f2 with strap and case - and WON it for $10.50 (well, $20.50 with shipping - but still a good deal)! I just bought an H1a, and love it - but really??? Another?

Now I still have a body without a lens, no matter how I look at it.

The insidious disease infects me... :o What am I going to do? Will it ever stop?

This week I just picked up a "new" (to me) H1a - it's such a jewel!

Here are a couple of picts - I'll put more in the Gear P0rn thread, along with lenses to use with it, and a few pictures taken with it.

Monochrome,

That's interesting. When I saw the eBay listing for the H1A, I thought I remembered seeing one listed in the Marketplace, so I went looking for it and did not find it. However, with the nice condition of yours and your investment in making it that way, you should keep it and enjoy it!

Ha, ha - Wise choice Steve!

There was not much information on the H1A, so I thought I would contact the seller about the details, and he seemed knowledgeable. He has a good rating for a good number of sales, so I think it will likely turn out well. Even if I had to do some minor repairs, or even send it to Eric, it would still not be a bad deal to get a good daily user.

I was browsing the Bay (I know, dangerous thing to do...), and came across a H1A in very nice condition at a LOW price. I communicated with the seller and he assured me it fires accurately and works well at all shutter speeds. It's cosmetically very nice. For $20 + $10 shipping, I couldn't pass it up! Here is the listing:

Honeywell Pentax Asahi H1A 35mm SLR Camera Body w M42 Mount | eBay

When he packed it to ship, he said he found the leather case for it, and is throwing that in as well - wow!

When I receive it, and if it is indeed in good working order, I'll post pictures of it, and taken by it.

When I got home from work this afternoon there was a box on my porch - my "new" MX arrived! It is a little rough around the edges with a few small dings and some brassing, but it is not bad. I thoroughly checked it out and everything works perfectly, as claimed by the seller. It feels good to handle, and I really like the overall ergonomics. I was not sure I would like the LED metering since I am accustomed to the needle in the Spotmatics and K1000 bodies, but it is really nice. I tried it both indoors and outdoors in bright sunlight, and it's fine at both extremes. It is REALLY a nice fit with my Pentax-M 40mm f2.8 pancake lens! The first roll of Tri-X is soaking in Rodinal as I type.

Well, my two K1000s both lost meter functionality. They will now become project cameras - I'll have to take them apart to fix the meters.

I've been wanting an MX for a long time, and finally this evening sprung for a black body MX from a camera store, tested and verified all good functionality by the store technician (with guarantee). The body is somewhat scratched and brassed, but I don't care about that.

It will arrive next week, so I'm looking forward to running a roll of Tri-X through it as soon as I get it.

This should be a nice "pocket" kit with my SMC-M 40mm f2.8 pancake. Who needs a rangefinder with a little kit like that?

I'll post pictures here when it arrives.
