i would certainly think so. you would just mount the S lens using the adapter to the TC instead of to the camera. i can see no reason why that would not work..

i've shot mine with the 1.4x-s with the same results. i can find no image degradation. in fact i have a feeling this is a combo i'll use very often.
adam, i've also read that this lens's best IQ is at f16. i have not tested it tho.
i've also shot using a tamron 2x with VERY acceptable results.
