Thanks for not telling! Not that there's anything to tell, of course! :D She can be difficult at times......here she is telling a friend...

"Mr Rupert thinks he is a real photographer....and Otis thinks he is closer to being a real duck!"

Good point, and I bought the K5, it is superb and did restore some confidence in Pentax, We'll have to see what Ricoh does with its replacement, and I am hoping it is along more conventional lines than the K-01 in design. Appearance should not make a difference, but we know it does. We say it's what's inside that counts.......well, sort of. I have a friend with a 450 lb wife, she is a lovely personality and can cook circles around Mrs Rupert (who hates to cook), but I can tell you for sure I won't be trading! Does that make me a shallow person? Yep, a shallow person with good eyes.

I am waiting for the first zoom to arrive, and hope it is soon.....but may not be able to resist from the samples I am seeing posted more frequently now. Stanley is providing some nice links over in the "Other Camera" forum. If I can get one anytime soon, they are going to be hard to find....I might go with the 60mm Macro, it is closest to the range I use most.

I can't see how the X-Pro relates in any way to the K-01 other than the fact they are both mirrorless and both cameras. They are obviously targeted at two very different types of shooters looking to fill very different needs. This does not make either one better or worse than the other. I just looked at some of those Flickr K-01 shots and they look plenty good to me, so if the K-01 works for someone, and the IQ is excellent, as it appears to be, what is the need to worry about what anyone else thinks?

My only real concern with Pentax started back with the Kx and the colored cameras. It seemed to me to take the seriousness out of Pentax as a genuine camera company for serious shooters. However, it did sell a lot of cameras, so what do I know? Anyhow, I'm in no way a "serious shooter" anyhow, so it should be of no consequence to me one way or another...but it is. I'm not a serious driver either, but I don't want to drive a pink truck. Part of the lure of Fuji is that they seem to be serious about cameras, at a time when some others are more into mass marketing of something "catchy". This may or may not be a credible view, but I don't expect them to produce yellow cameras anytime soon. The sales numbers of the X100 and X10 are remarkable, any camera Mfg would be thrilled with them, so it might be hard to argue they are "out of touch" with production of a marketable product?

I've read otherwise, but it doesn't matter much......landscapes don't move much, and studio portraits are usually shot with great lights and focusing is often manual in both cases. Fuji says it is a landscape/portrait tool.....I think they are right. It's sort of like the K-01...not for everyone, but perfect for some. :D

Just saying, you can't go by the data alone......and the 80 year old woman can probably cook great cookies, I doubt Angelina does much cooking?
.....and I'm not picking on older women, my Mom is 85+ (She does have OVFinders!:D)

Let's say we have two similar women, similar in measurements and weight........one is 80 years old and one is Angelina Jolie......one has great eyes(Angelina)..... and one is blind in sunlight.........still having trouble seeing any difference? If so, the lack of an OVF will not affect you in the least!
