I've used Lens Reviews in the past and generally have found them very helpful. It's easy enough to spot a first time poster or an inexperienced shooter, and react accordingly in your purchase decision. Not allowing a new poster to post his view might discourage his/her enthusiasm about posting...something I would not favor. :(
Does remind me of the time I read a review on a fabulous and "extremely rare" 85mm 1.2 Yokahaammo by a first time poster that was also a first day member......It went on to rave about the superb quality and even had a few most excellent portraits posted that were supposedly shot with it. Had the most wonderful bokeh, lovely color and a dreamy overall quality that made me want it at any price. The poster went on to say that they are so rare that they only show up on E-bay once every few years....if you are lucky enough to spot one.
So....I immediately went to the Bay to search, and to my surprise, there it was! Only $400, the seller was in a bind and needed quick cash, though it was only a fraction of its real worth. Only after I had hurriedly hit "Buy Now" and made payment did I check out the seller...Yep, hidden in the paper work and fine print, the seller was Otis Squirrel. I'm still waiting for that lens to show up, but no longer believe everything I read in the Lens Reviews! You shouldn't either!
Any of you guys ever shot with a 85mm 1.2 Yokahaammo? I still dream of owning that lens! :D
Regards!:)
