I think it is what was written in stone so many years ago....#10, last but not least in a list of rules for a happier more joyful life.

"Thou shalt not covet"

Still as valid today as ever, and still as neglected as ever. This is not to say that there aren't those through no fault of their own are deprived and struggling. We know those and recognize our own blessings. We do also recognize those that let envy destroy their own joy and wreck their relationships.:(

It's hard to let worrying about tomorrow kill my joy of the K1 today.....so I don't! :D

"Worrying about tomorrow?...that's outrageous!"

That is the biggest line of nonsense I have read in some time. First, in defense of all the K1 owners I see here, I haven't see a one gloat over their ability to purchase a K1. What I have read is honest and sincere enthusiasm for this camera and for what Pentax has given us at a reasonable and affordable price for most. Keeping in mind it is barely more expensive than a new K5 when they came out several years ago. I didn't hear this outrage then, nor did I hear anyone making a case for economic class warfare?

Secondly, many of us here are like Monochrome.....we have spent a lifetime working hard, paying mortgages, sending kids to college and living frugally to make ends meet, while saving what we could for the place in time we are now. With limited expenses and all that cash we saved, we can spend freely, yet not without caution and reason. Some of the younger people here are where we were 40-50 years ago. There is nothing we don't understand about that, and we certainly do not gloat or look at them as underprivileged or inferior and we deeply resent anyone that would make us out to do so.:(

The 645Z part of your post is absurd. What the hell would I do with a 645Z that I can't do now with most any Pentax in the current lineup? Very little for my needs and use. That I could buy a 645Z as easily as I could buy a loaf of bread 50 years ago is not a sign of arrogance, it is a sign that I was most fortunate to make it this far and still have a few dollars left to play with in my old age. Like many here, I once lived on a very tight budget and longed for things I couldn't afford at the time. We understand, we were there. Few of us were born with that silver spoon, and most that I know that were are not gloaters in any sense of the word.

My personal thoughts are that you might reflect on being a "Kinder, Gentler, Norm" as I have been trying to do lately. Life is about a lot more than camera bodies, lenses, and who has what or doesn't.

I've been here a long time...have never hit the "Report Button" on anyone, not ever. But you just tempted me. The only reason I don't is I wouldn't want some poor soul having to look at what you posted and gag his/her guts out.:(:(

I was a skeptic.....Most of my past upgrades were centered around learning the new menus and hoping for better IQ, which was often elusive over the prior body. Always looking for better and more accurate AF, I was seldom rewarded by much if any improvement. You tend to find it "in your mind", but in reality it was never there to any great degree. :(

First thing I did was to mount the Bigma 50-500 and try the AF. The Bigma has been a slow focusing old blind hound on every Pentax body I have owned for over 10 years. Accuracy has been spotty and in low light just forget it!:(:(

So how does the Bigma do on the K1? Lightning fast AF and accurate too...even in light so low you can barely see your target subject.

Moonless night...could barely see them...nothing in the viewfinder. Point and hope....instant focus with the K1 assist light. Never before was this possible.:D

That's barely the beginning of the improvements with the K1. Wonderful new SR, great WB and exposure. Just an all around great camera!
No, I don't shoot BIF or sports action.....if I did I would know what to buy and would not be here whimpering because I didn't buy it!

Maybe I just don't "get it"?

Almost all the K1 shooters I see are beyond happy with the K1 and most are out shooting and enjoying this fine camera. If they were worried about shooting "what's popular" they would have left Pentax long ago. The ones that seem to be most worried about the K1 and Pentax in general are the ones that don't have the K1...which kind of limits their credibility in my way of thinking?:hmm:

Try one, buy one, or whatever way you can manage to get your hands on one and I think the conversation will change for many. This is the first Pentax upgrade I have made that has brought an instant and gratifying major improvement over previous bodies. It was barely out of the box until I had my first "Wow!!!" moment.:):)

My bet is on average the amateurs have more cash than the Pros. Old guys like me quite often have funds saved over a lifetime and few expenses. Pros are often struggling to meet the next deadline and pay the bills.

The vast majority of us are not Pros. I seldom lament that I can't buy a Racing Machine for Daytona at my Chevy or Ford dealer. I can buy a pretty fast car there.....:D

What lens are you wanting that you can't get?

As an old guy...I've heard the same message over the years about fuel injection, anti-lock brakes, airbags and a dozen or more innovations that we now consider "standard".

Maybe Tony drives a '54 Ford and is stuck in low gear? And just where did he get the idea that Ricoh has abandoned APS-C?.....That's front page news....yet it's not on the front page anywhere, it's not even on any back page either.

The idea that Ricoh can't walk and chew gum at the same time could only come from someone ...that can't!

The K1 is a wonderful camera, just look around at user response!:) Priced unreasonably low for a camera with its abilities, and a pure joy for the vast majority of us. :D

Was it a good idea? Nope..it was a damn good idea! :D:D

Regards!:)
