Been a while since I put anything on here - but my K-01 is still my most used camera. I've started using it from the cockpit of our Cessna 172, and while my Samsung NX100 is a much lighter option, the K-01 does an excellent job with the 35mm F2.4, but I can then put a 70-300mm on it when I get to my destination. When I'm flying (usually on my own) I have to be able to operate the K-01 single handed and with limited time to shoot - as my primary attention needs to be outside the cockpit. Having a decent liveview camera is a necessity (can't have my face stuck to an optical viewfinder!). Here's a couple of my favourite aerial shots with the K-01:
The Triangular shapes here are the remains of the WWII US 8th Airforce base at RAF Ramsbury Wiltshire
The spit protecting Christchurch harbour - on the South coast of England

I'm beginning to really like my K-01 as a platform for bird photography. With my Tamron 70-300mm and high ISO capability my chances of capturing avian activity in the garden have so much improved. In fact I now prefer the 70-300mm over my Sigma 120-400mm which used to be my favoured lens, but with the ability to crop the 70-300mm photos much greater with the extra pixels and good results at ISO1600+ I don't need to have the camera on a tripod anymore. Just grab and go. Both of these at ISO1600: IMGP7801 - Starling by Neil MacG, on Flickr IMGP7867- Reed Bunting by Neil MacG, on Flickr

Fantastic image - it has clearly worked well with those settings.
But I am curious because, given the length of exposure - is the high aperture and ISO really necessary? Do you just not get the detail if you select a lower ISO?

I recently spent 3 weeks in Australia with my K-01 becoming my primary camera throughout. I used it with my Tamron 18-250 most of the time but also took the DA 35 F2.4, SMC M 50 F1.7, Tamron 70-300 and Zenit 16 F2.8.
These are a few of my favourites:
With the 50 F1.7
With the Tamron 300 at ISO1600!
If you are really feeling masochistic, you are welcome to look through the whole 3 weeks worth of photos. I didn't put up all 5000 odd that I took, but it's still a lot. I really like this camera now.

#RonHendriks1966 - Thanks for the info. I'm tempted to use some of my Pentax M lenses when I try out video.
#NickLarsson - Like that image.

Thanks for posting - was quite interesting to view and I'm opening up to the idea of using the K-01 for video soon. I'd be interested to know how you approach doing video with the camera. Questions that come to mind are:
What lenses do you tend to use (and why).
What do you find to be the best way to keep focus on the subject areas?
Do you use separate microphone or the built in system.

Only had my K-01 since Wednesday, but these are my favourites so far

I don't think you need to spend a lot to get some decent images with this setup. The camera only cost me £275 as an Ex-Demo item from Pentax.
