It should if you adapt it.

I think people get confused between having a solid point of interest and making that point of interest the only point in the scene, which a lot of times is too simplistic, and like you said, can look unnatural. Personally, I tend to like a photo with some "clutter" in it, because the tension that is created between the clutter and the more interesting part of the photo makes the photo more interesting as a whole.

Twilight, instead of cropping, you could try some selective dodging and burning to bring out different parts of the photo. I'm thinking if you could darken the bright part of the dumpster just slightly it might make it less distracting while still allowing it to maintain its presence in the photo. On the other hand, I kind of like it the way it is :)

Samsungian, you are always so negative. I feel that's why you get into so many fights with people on this forum, even with those people who should agree with you. Why not just look at the positives that each brand can offer instead of being like "Pentax sucks and always will, neener neener neener" all the time. That's what I'm trying to get out of this thread anyway, the positives of full frame, not the negatives of Pentax.

On this note, I wanted to mention that from looking at the shots from Deadwolfbones, jsherman999 and Peter Zack in this thread, one thing that has stuck out to me is how much the shots from full frame from them look like the photos they have taken with Pentax cameras. This isn't an argument against full frame, however, it's more an observation that photographic style transcends brand or camera or lens. This said, brand or camera or lens does give each particular photographer more options to express his or her particular vision or style.

I'm beginning to see the full frame offerings this way:

Nikon -- the best all around cameras (if you don't use video). Great, super expensive zooms.

Canon -- the best lens lineup (in terms of variety) for fullframe. Second best cameras at the moment. Best video by far.

Sony -- the best deal for the 24 mp D3X sensor, shake reduction, some unique high quality lenses (thinking about that 135 mm lens in particular)

That sound about right to you guys?

Hey Dylansalt, I assume Peter will answer you well, but I'll add my input as well since I also owned the K-7 and K-x duo for a bit.

Owning the K-x did help to make up for the K-7's shortcomings above ISO 3200, but I found it an imperfect solution. The K-x isn't weathersealed and the K-7 is largely the better camera in everything but sensor, so I usually ended up using the K-7 more often, somewhat defeating the point of getting the K-x in the first place, besides giving me the ability to go on assignments with two cameras. Since my sister in law was needing a camera anyway to take photos of her soon to be born child, I decided to sell the K-x to her at a good price and wait for the next offerings from Pentax.

Now if you want full frame, and can afford it, there are as you know some benefits of going that way. So that is a viable option that shouldn't be discounted.

If you like your Pentax stuff, though, and don't need the full frame benefits, I'm hoping the new camera Pentax cameras will perform better at high ISO and eliminate the choice Pentax users have been forced to make between good camera (not that the K-x was bad by any means, just not up to the K-7's level) and good ISO performance.

I'd wait for Photokina to make a purchasing decision if you can. Not just because I think Pentax will come out with something good, but also because if Nikon, Canon and Sony come out with new full frame stuff it will probably mean some decent full frame cameras will start to become available on the used market for good prices.

I think it's both the placement and the size of the wheel that are awkward for me, although both are probably largely due to the fact that I'm so used to the way Pentax does things. Instead of having a front and rear adjustment wheel of identical size and roughly identical placement near the shutter button where quick adjustments can be made, Canon's rear wheel is a large, circular joystick wheel located on the back of the camera roughly where the Pentax OK button would be. This might work well for some people, but it was annoying for a user new to the system.

On another note, the Canon 5D is also probably about as large of a camera as I would want to own, although I still much prefer the K-7's size. I carried the main shooter's Canon 1D Mark IV + L zoom across the room for him while we were getting setup and it felt more like a bowling ball than a camera. No wonder why athletes are always getting hurt when they land on the photographers ;)

I have mentioned this in other threads, but the main thing I love about full frame is the ability to take wide angle shots with a fast prime. I second shot for a wedding shooter a few weeks ago and he lent me his third body (Canon 5D) with a 24 f/1.4 on it to duo with my K-7 and lenses. It was so fun to try and the combo worked well enough together that I am considering buying a 5D just for the option of pairing the 24 f/1.4 with what I already can get with Pentax. The High ISO performance isn't as important to me. Or, I'll put it this way, it isn't important enough to me to spend more than $4,000 buying the camera and the lens.

On a side note, it was the first time I had ever used a Canon. Stupid rear wheel!

Some photos from the day with the 5D.

(Not the most flattering shot of the bride I took during the day, true, but I still enjoy it.)
