That might even be right. Even when an aps-c k-mount camera is about to be ready.......I would stall it for a few months and give the GRIII the shiny stage it deserve.

The GRIII is an "expensive" camera. It costs 899 euro! Not that you don't get a great camera for that money, but it is a lot of money for most people. There is a market for it. With the right aproach Ricoh-Imaging could sell a lot of them. If I may take a wild guess on it......they can sell 20k units or even much more. So that GRIII is about to make a lot more money for the company then any lens could do or at the moment most camera body's would.

So stop worrying about your k-mount body.....it will come when the time is right.

It looks like Europe is maybe going into a little economic dip over the coming months with all that Brexit will bring. So a camera like GRIII for 999 euro.......who knows maybe there are some customers for it in The Netherlands, but better to find them elsewhere I think.

Is it? Was GRII 16mp 12-bit raw and GRIII 24mp and 14-bit raw?

Well I don't expect that the GRiii will be the groundbreaking camera to get those first class electronics to be a speed monster.

Speed is part of the total system. So what would be required for a street camera? What would be possible given the choices made for sensor, sensor read-out, processor, busline to the card and all other parts. Probably uhs-I is adequate or even more then enough. It is a little camera that has to be consious about energy use, because of the small battery.

Well this not all true. I know things can be a lot better then with smartphones. Huawei is now using a 1/1.7 inch sensor in the p20 pro. So things move up.

I have made several prints from my current and former smartphone to 30x40 cm and the one taken in sunny daylight are actually very nice.

We now know why it takes some years before a new version of GR reaches the market. Mr. Tomohiro Noguchi has to do it al by himself.

I can tell you that it certainly won't be the D-LI90 given it's size.

GRIII size 109 x 62 x 33
D-LI90 size 56 x 39 x 20

That is 20 % of the camera volume.

I'm going to quote Thom Hogan from his article about the new L-mount alliance:

The Leica/Panasonic/Sigma announcement is classic FUD marketing: try to get people to hold off committing to competitive products because of something that might be better. Or not. Or delayed. Or the competitors are faster at coming up with their lenses and iterating their products than people expect.

Well if you put Ricoh GRIII in that place it does sound the same. Let's get this camera in shops. Not like those Nikon people still waiting for their DL compacts that never came.

Spring ends on may 6th.

It is very likely that the new image engine is the change that makes 14-bit possible while the older models are limited to 12-bit.
