Compare camera dimensions side by side
That would make the K-3iii a big camera for aps-c. If it had a new 6 stop SR system then maybe. Or a great heat dispatching system so it could run 4k video.

Time will tell. To my feeling we will see a KPii (or maybe they name it KC) with some upgrades. KC (C for 100) as the anniversary model. With such a model in november the aps-c line is ready for a next model in 2021.

I think this is very true. 6 years ago I had a set of camera gear and side stuff in the range for total €8K - €10k. I was also active on two Dutch Pentax fora. There where some 250 active enthousiast members back then. When this new lens 11-18mm would have come out then for €1399......... I think that the number of people buying this lens new would be like from 0-5 members and not more. I do understand that all manufacturers have the problem of making money with fewer customers. That does not mean that they all can now spend so much money on a single lens.

Sony does deserve some credit in digital camera development.
Sony Mavica - Wikipedia
Some years ago on Photokina (or Salon de la Photo) there was an exhibition on the history of camera development and Sony had it's place there.

Well I don't see many buyers for this lens either, because of the price. I hope that KP users buy it or that new camera is coming anytime soon.

Im not sure how wanted this cake is. Most Pentaxians that spend a lot of money by now have a K-1 with a nice set of lenses. I don't see this new 11-18mm lens on a KP beating up a 15-30mm lens on a K-1(ii).
Lenses are getting pretty expensive across all brands. That is fine and maybe impossible to avoid for the manufacturers. That doesn't mean that everyone can afford those new baby's coming in.

I think the 11-18 is crazy expensive. Overhere the most expensive aps-c lens from Pentax.
To my surprise the dfa15-30 is even 300 euro more expensive. When did this happen? With 1695 euro it is even more expensive then the Tamron generation 2 design.
The 35mm has a good price I think. The older fa is 569 overhere, wich is to expensive (but some years ago it was 799 euro).

With Nikon Z you can use the 28-70mm/f2 lens. This cover the 35mm part. That particular 35mm part isn't so heavy.........Only the other focal lengths bring in the heavy meat :lol:

My guess to this is that this lens is already an older project. First it wasn't going to be a Kaf4 mount. So that makes it start in the design proces maybe even before K-1. Got delayed due to the prioritising of the full-frame project. Then came back on the table.
So the camera it was designed for in the first place was the replacement for the K-3ii. That one, I don't see coming anymore.

I said it back then and repeat. No motor inside and no Wheater resistence in any form is a major mistake. If this is true then Pentax still has no clue about what the brand is about and that we live in 2019.
Makes the election for worst lens of 2019 very easy for dpreview.
