I see!! Thanks for the info.
I imagine some people would actually use that with DSLR's when needed.

I am still struggling a LOT with anything-photography that comes with "flash".

Cheers.

PROBLEM SOLVED .... and my apologies for this useless thread of mine.

Here is what I did wrong:

Evidently, I had (accidentally) moved the small slider at the right side of the flash unit which can be moved DOWN for ""format" "CH." and "modeling" ... this is where the slider was moved to.
I needs to be in the UP position!! :o

Sorry folks.

Hi all.

I just used my Pentax af-540-FGZ flash tonight ... tried to anyway. Here's what is happening:

Turn the flash on: the " TEST - ready" light comes on rather quickly, more so than usual! Actually it comes on immediately when I turn the flash on.
This normally takes a few seconds for the "test" light to come on.

Also: the normal high pitch sound that one can usually hear when the flash is turned on (or recharging after a shot) is absent!

Now, when I puch the "test" button (red light), it send a continuous flash for about 2-3 seconds, not the actual "flash" normally seen when one uses that test button.
This continuous flash is what seems to be a very fast series of mini-flashes accompanied with a buzzing sound.

Even after a few minutes with the flash on, the red light (test button red light) does not light off, as it normally should.

I tried a different set of freshly charged batteries (Eneloop) but that doesn't make any difference.
I tried brand new Duracell batteries ... same thing.

Now, when I use the flash to take pics, it behaves as it should! ?? :hmm:

Anyone wants to jump in for trying to help me solving this?

Cheers.

JP

P.S.: I had forgotten: it doesn't matter whether the flash unit is attached to the camera or not.
