Nice image. There is much discussion on this point, I think. Abstract art began by "abstracting" recognizable objects e.g. Monet. It also evolved into purely Abstract art, where there are no recognizable objects. So, I believe that "abstract photography" can run the gamut- from recognizable objects that are creatively altered PP, to more altered images or point-of-views that can be appreciated for their pure form.
