The K-x has a focus indicator (green hexagon in the lower part of the viewfinder) just as the K-7 etc. What it doesn't have is a focus point selection indicator (red flash in the general area of a focus sensor in the viewfinder). The hexagon is the real deal, the red flash in the view finder is just a helper and not totally accurate.
I have both a K-7 and a K-m (K2000 in the US and predecessor to the K-x) and use a M50/1.7 with both. I don't have any problem using manual focus on the K-m even though it doesn't have the "red flash". The K-7 is much sturdier and nicer to use though. ;)
