The 18-135 advantage is portability. 16-85 is a bulky lens, not too suitable for hiking, traveling.

Yes, it would be a good combination for travelers, but according to the speed at which Rich / Pentax is moving we have much more to expect.

I used the most 20-40 and 10-17 in this year's summer vacation in the mountains. Occasionally 40mm prime. I also had 70mm in my bag.

I also have 18-135mm, it is the workhorse for travel, but the experience with 20-40mm is more pleasant. I bought it from BF with a significant discount.

My favourite with KP is HD 20-40mm.

My favorite combination was KP + the next limited lenses: 15mm, 20-40mm, 70mm (+ TC eventually). When I have no time to change lenses, KP + 18-135mm. When the volume and weight does not matter I have to me the 55-300mm too. Sigma 10-20mm and 17-50mm, I use them less often, usually for indoor photography.
But KP is part of the limited lenses family. The 40mm limited arrived 2-3 days ago, so the ultimate combination probably will be KP + 15mm, 40mm, 70mm limited lenses.
