i think f/4.
i shot a couple wide open but the legs were well out of the plane of focus. f/4 was better.

I recently turned in my K10D for a K20D and this is one of the first pics i got with it. I cannot say which Takumar is my favorite, but this 105mm/2.8 is definitely in the running.
I used a #2 extension tube for the close up.

Here's another from the Super Tak 50/1.4 I bought from Peter Zack. This time stopped down a bit. A very nice lens!
This shot has some PP, including selective blurring, sharpening, contrast&sat, etc... |

Gus,
i appreciate that. My mission yesterday was to get a pic showing her two little bottom teeth for the scrapbook, but i liked this one more. I love the smooth bokeh of this lens, no doubt. it seems well suited for faces.
She does like to pose for the pics but i have to watch because she is compelled to lick the lens...has happened more than a couple of times now. yikes. dont worry, she didn't lick your Viv Series 1 macro.
Here is the little toothie pic: |

yes, both places you mention have views of the windfarms. These particular ones are between Rio Vista and Suisun City; you can see them from Hwy 4 looking north from Pittsburg, CA.

here are a couple more shots from my SMC Takumar 105 f/2.8, both shot wide open to demonstrate sharpness and bokeh at f/2.8. I must say, the bokeh is not at all appealing to me but in the right situation it probably isn't as noticeable.
regardless, stopped down past f/4, this lens performs beautifully and better than anything else i've used in this focal length. and that Takumar silky smooth focus ring is a pleasure to tweak. :p |

I took my SMC Takumar 105 f/2.8 into the backyard this afternoon and shot some of the springtime party taking place there...all the flowers are in bloom and you may recognize a few familiar sights from the Cosina thread.
These are all shot wide open (f/2.8) with a circ polarizer. The colors straight from the lens are remarkable and bright. I do notice quite a bit of CA in the high contrast areas, particularly within the busy bokeh of the "Bee & Lavender" photo.
I do love the lens and find it easy to focus. Moreover, these are all fairly sharp at f/2.8 which ain't bad at all. Even better by f/5.6 or 8 naturally.
Amazingly, i was shooting the lavender sans hood with the sun directly in front of me and got no flaring at all. The other day while doing the same shot with the Cosina (also hoodless), most of the shots were badly flared and I ended up making a cardboard hood just to get an acceptable image. Must be that SMC doing its job, eh?
Hope you like these.

I recently joined the club by acquiring Jay Sherman's SMC Takumar 105mm f/2.8.
I don't have many shots to show as of yet, but here are a couple that show the lens to be a great sharp and fast vintage lens. |
